Regarding Johnson, what more is known about him besides he was a PS player (w/some 53-experience) w/Cincinnati? A zone runner - 1st cut? Speed, power?

Hard to find any hard numbers on the guy, best I've got is that he ran the 40 somewhere between 4.45 and 4.6 seconds (conflicting reports from dubious sources), and that he's a decent receiver out of the backfield as well as a decent kick returner.
His senior year at KSU he hauled in 1,100+ yards for a 6.7 yards per carry average.
During his senior year, he was also stabbed 5 times in the lower back and arms during an incident which stemmed from an argument at a bar that followed him to a house party.
Someone might have to ask his KSU team mate Jordy Nelson to fill all of us in on the details about Johnson.

Interesting Oppy - thanks.
Not too good of a resume on the night-life side.
Perhaps Jody will chirp in.
Anyone else w/other insight?

In high school Johnson was recruited by LSU in 2002 (2003 class?), but failed to qualify academically. SE Texas/Louisiana schools. Nuf said. Went to Blinn JuCo, rushed for 2,300 yards, and was a JuCo All-American. In addition to his 1100+ yards in '07 at K-State (school record for fewest attempts to reach 1000 yards), he also caught 34 passes that same year. 1 receiving TD in '06. Zero career fumbles, 12 rushing TDs in '07. Returned kicks and averaged 24.25 per return, with a long of 85 for a TD coming against Texas (41-21 upset by K-State). No punt returns. A little small, does not have blazing speed. Who knows.

Jets picked up Jarron Gilbert for their practice squad. At 6-5 288, he seems like a guy who could have been a legit DE prospect for the Packers. Room to put a few pounds on his frame. Very athletic. Packers would had dibs over the Jets. You'd think that they would be concerned enough about DE depth to take him over a second OT.

Do claiming players win you games? Does good depth put you automatically in the superbowl? No. What does, performance, making key plays and..... LUCK!
I don't get so worked up about "who we should have got." I leave that to Greg Bedard.
