While attending the NFL’s new Nike uniform unveiling event in New York City on Tuesday as the Green Bay Packers’ team representative, tight end Jermichael Finley talked to Yahoo Sports about the disappointing end to last season. ”We need to be more consistent, man,” Finley told Doug Farrar. “That last game, we were off, and the whole world saw it. The best team won, but I don’t think we need to change anything. It was just one of those days.” Many will say it starts with Finley who needs to be more consistent himself. Finley also expressed his like of the new Packers’ uniform specifically citing its cut and fit.
With the exception of the Seattle Seahawks, there weren’t many wholesale changes among Nike’s new uniforms. Several teams made tweaks, but the Packers made fewer than most. “According to Reuters, the Packers were one of five teams that made no changes,” reads an article in the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “The new uniforms have an aluminum buckle at the top of the pants, and no zippers or laces. The Packers were the only team to keep a zipper. The four other teams (Carolina, Dallas, Oakland and Philadelphia) kept variations of laces.” A running joke on social media platforms was that the only thing new about the Packers uniform was the swoosh.
It’s been made official that Nick Collins and his agents will travel to Green Bay to meet with the Packers next week to make a decision on his football future. “His agent, Alan Herman, said in a text message to the Press-Gazette on Tuesday that an exact date has not been set,” writes Rob Demovsky of the Press-Gazette. Collins will also be accompanied by co-agent Dave Butz next week.
