Packers Calendar: Update on Benson Coming Wednesday

The Packers return to practice on Wednesday after a day off on Tuesday in preparation for their game against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend. Following practice head coach Mike McCarthy will hold a press conference at 1:00 p.m. that will be streamed live on the team’s official website.

McCarthy said during Tuesday’s press conference that he’d have more information on running back Cedric Benson today. Benson has been placed on injured reserve with the designation to return, but according to a report from Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Benson may still need foot surgery, which would end his season.

The worst is expected with Benson. McCarthy already indicated that he won’t practice this week, further fanning the flames that he’ll require surgery.

NFL policy also requires the Packers release an injury report beginning Wednesday and is usually announced immediately before McCarthy’s press conference.

The status of a couple players will be of interest, including defensive lineman C.J. Wilson, who was injured during the Giants game last week.

In the evening, the Mike McCarthy Show will air a day later than usual, said host Lance Allan on Twitter. Presumably, the show will be at 6:30 p.m. CT on WGBA Ch. 26 in Green Bay.

Packers guard Josh Sitton hosts his own namesake weekly radio program The Josh Sitton Show on Wednesday evening on 107.5 FM and 1400 AM “The Fan” WDUZ in Green Bay, which can be streamed live on the station’s website at 6:00 p.m. Central time. Defensive back Davon House will be the player guest, according to Sitton on Twitter.

The show is aired live from The Pine Tree Sports Bar & Grill at Thornberry Creek in Oneida, Wis.

    Do we have the worst medical staff in the league or is lady luck just being an effing C-word?

      Not sure what the medical staff can control in most cases. Treatment for lisfranc calls for either:

      a) Rest and treatment, mostly rest, or;

      b) Surgery

      Option a at least gives the team a ‘chance’ for the player to come back. Option b doesn’t. Benson is at the point of no return. Either the rest has helped, or it’s off to surgery. Nothing to do with medical staff whatsoever.
