Packers Calendar: Saturday Visits ESPN

Packers center Jeff Saturday, who said he would be retiring after the Pro Bowl, will be making a pair of appearances on ESPN on Tuesday, according to Bob Wolfley of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Saturday will reportedly be on “SportCenter” at 11 a.m. Central time and again on “NFL Live” at 3 p.m.

The impending retirement of Saturday will clear more than $3 million in salary cap space for the Packers as they start to enter the 2013 season.

Saturday’s departure also means the Packers need to start coming up with a plan for the long-term stability of the center position. Evan Dietrich-Smith replaced Saturday with two games remaining in the regular season, but it’s still unseen whether he’s the answer at the offensive line’s anchor position.

At 37 years old, Saturday spent his 14th and final season in Green Bay after spending the previous 13 with the Indianapolis Colts.

A stir was created during the Pro Bowl when Saturday joined the AFC for one final snap with former teammate Peyton Manning who currently plays for the Denver Broncos.
