Packers Calendar: Chris Canty Visit, Take Two
By Brian Carriveau on Mar 07, 2013 with 2 Comments
It’s difficult to fly into Green Bay when there’s weather problems anywhere in the nation.
Just as Rams running back Steven Jackson found out a few days ago when he was scheduled to come to Green Bay for a speaking engagement, free agent defensive lineman Chris Canty reportedly couldn’t reach Green Bay on Wednesday either.
The problem is that Green Bay isn’t served by a direct flight by too many airlines. Most people, not just football players, frequently have to grab a connecting flight in places like Milwaukee, Chicago or Minneapolis.
Canty is still expected to be in Green Bay on Thursday and will resume his regularly-scheduled meeting with the Packers.
With free agency now less than a week away, Canty will likely be looking to strike a deal with a team over the course of the next couple days.
Also on taking place on Thursday is a ceremony honoring former Packers running back Jim Taylor as a “Hometown Hall of Famer” by the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Allstate Insurance Agency.
Taylor will be in his hometown of Baton Rouge, La., which will be presented with a plaque recognizing the town where Taylor grew up.

Thanks for the update, Brian. I was wondering and nobody tweeted anything about it last night … I saw one small mention by Pete Dougherty, but that was it. Any other details about when he’ll be here, whether he will stay Friday? Hope all is well with you. You’re a busy guy.
Thanks for the kind words, Ray. I don’t have any more information on Canty. Assuming he arrives today in Green Bay, I’m sure they’ll cover all the same bases the would have otherwise.
