Packers Attend FAU Pro Day, Check Out Lester Jean

A representative from the Green Bay Packers attended Florida Atlantic University's pro day workout in Boca Raton on Thursday, according to Tony Pauline of Sports Illustrated and DraftInsider.
The Packers saw a fair amount of talent on display yesterday. Prior to 2010 FAU only had a single player invited to the NFL Combine in the school's history. This year they had three: wide receiver Lester Jean, tight end Rob Housler and quarterback Jeff Van Camp.
Housler turned in the fastest 40-yard dash among all tight ends at the Combine with a time 4.55 seconds.
According to Chuck King of FAUOwlAccess.com, the Packers spent some time looking at Jean.
"Green Bay, New Orleans, San Francisco, St. Louis and Seattle have all shown interested in Jean," writes King. "Unlike Van Camp and Housler, Jean chose to run the 40-yard dash on Thursday. He wanted to bring his time under 4.6, and did so with a 4.53 – the fastest time of the day."
Also working out at FAU's pro day were potential future pros, linebacker/safety Michael Lockley and cornerback Tavious Polo.

In other pro day news, Baylor's pro day was held Thursday with a pair of possible first-round draft choices working out, defensive tackle Phil Taylor and offensive lineman Danny Watkins. Twenty three teams were in attendance.
Utah State also had their pro day with 13 scouts from NFL teams in attendance. No word on whether the Packers were in attendance at either Baylor or Utah State.

Sounds about right re the 40 time for tight ends.
Draft Scout ranks Lester Jean #33 among wide receivers. At 6-3 215 lbs., he’d be a big target over the middle. Comments that his stats were impressive despite being double-teamed frequently.
National Football Post has him as the 17th rated wide receiver with his stock dropping (40 time at Combine, I assume). NFP comments about his excellent body control for his size. Good straight line speed and accleration. Let’s the ball get into his body too much; needs to extend hands.
Sounds like Lester Jean is a final day prospect that may have some big up side. Measurables of a young TO. At a minimum, he could fill Driver’s role of going over the middle. I love the video of him absorbing that hit over the middle. Serveral one-handers, so I’d assume that if there is a hands issue it can be coached out.
Yeah, among tight ends. A classic case of typing with my brain and not with my fingers.
He’s like a James Jones that can catch.
Not sure if I mentioned Lester Jean here as a guy to look at or in the espn draft post as a possible late rd sleeper around 3 weeks ago.I had Starks last year,maybe I go two for two.

We need Lester Jean to keep in the tradition of great packer names such as “Harlan Huckleby”, “Esera Tuaolo”, “Ezra Johnson”, and “Brad Jones” (ok, skip that last one).
