Grant Reportedly Visiting in New England Friday

Free-agent running back Ryan Grant is reportedly in New England today visiting the Patriots.

The representation for free-agent running back Ryan Grant told Rob Demovsky earlier this week that his client was receiving interest from teams outside Green Bay.

Those claims from agent Alan Herman appear to be correct.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Grant is in New England Friday to visit the Patriots, along with fellow free-agent back Tim Hightower.

Grant, 29, has been with the Packers organization since 2007.

Herman told Demovsky there was a "strong possiblity" that Grant could find a new home as early as "next week." If things go well in New England, the Patriots may give Grant a low-risk, low-salary contract to see if he could win a roster spot in training camp.

The Packers, on the other hand, have shown no such interest.

All along, Green Bay has appeared satisfied with Grant testing the free-agent market. However, the team left the door open for Grant's return if little to no interest in the veteran back surfaced.

While the Patriots wouldn't likely offer something the Packers couldn't match, Grant could be anxious to find a team before next week's draft. If Grant remains without a team by the end of next weekend, he could find it difficult to find a roster fit as team fill out their depth charts with drafted and undrafted rookies.

He's expendable to our team, but I trully wish him the best of luck. He can't be a feature back, but IMO last year he showed he can still perform in the right role. His pass block got much better than before.

Typical Hoodie signing. An aging veteran he hopes to squeeze every last bit of talent out of, on the cheap. Good luck Ryan.

IMO TT is just waiting to see if one of the RB's he wants falls to him in the draft.

If we get one in the draft, Grant is gone. If not, he'll be back on the cheap as a committee backfield guy.

One more guy that Belicheat can frustrate fantasy owners with by using him in awkward ways.
