Gene Wojciechowski: Hack
By Aaron Nagler on Aug 07, 2008 with 3 Comments
Throughout this whole messy process, ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski has had his nose shoved so incredibly far up Favre’s ass, it’s hard to figure out how he can still see to type. Sorry for such harsh language this early in the morning, but enough is enough.
As good as yesterday’s Michael Silver article was is how atrocious Wojciechowski’s column is today. Because he shares a differing view from my own? Hardly. Because he barely concedes Favre’s part in the fiasco, spending paragraph after paragraph disparaging Thompson.
Exhibit A:
For all those Favre critics who insist he’s a drama queen, remember that he could have stayed in Green Bay, practiced, competed in an open competition with Aaron Rodgers and dared Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy to keep him on the bench. But he didn’t. He left after several days because he has more respect for the Packers than the Packers have for him.
Someone pass me a salad bowl because I think I’m going to puke.
Really Gene, they PAY you to do this? As Steve over at PackerGeeks points out, it’s always refreshing when paid professionals go out of their way to get the facts before launching in on subjects they clearly know nothing about. Like a modern day Dickens, Wojciechowski must get paid by the word, because he has now written essentially the same long winded column three times. You know the one – the ‘Thompson is a moron for not worshiping Favre like I do’ column.
The notion that Favre has “more respect for the Packers than the Packers have for him” could only be posited by someone who has only been following the headlines coming out of ESPN, the Favre camps’ preferred messenger for the past three months. If Gene wants to go back a bit, and try to wrap his head around the fact that Bus Cook was talking to the Vikings in April and that Brett “I respect the Packers more than they respect me” Favre was demanding a trade last offseason in what can only be described as a tantrum. You know what you do when your kid throws a tantrum? You ignore it, which lets the child know he’s not going to get his way just because he throws a tantrum.
I could go on (and on and on…) but you get the point. The ESPFavre-ification of Bristol is bad enough, but Wojciechowski’s ignorant, moronic, anti-Thompson tirades have got to stop.

Amen. I wrote the following pissy email to Mr. W. this morning—
“In your recent column on Favre’s trade to the Jets, you state that if Packers’ GM Ted Thompson has “lost faith in Favre’s ability to win games” then he has “miscalculated yet again.” What is your basis for saying this? That the Packers were 13-3 last season? Do you not recall that they were 12-20 the previous two seasons? Do you not recall Favre’s horrid performances in pressure games down the stretch last season? Are you aware of how many playoff games Favre has won this decade? Or his performance in those games?
Favre is still undoubtedly an above average NFL quarterback. But acting as if he is Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, and refusing to acknowledge that the Packers have some basis for their decision that it’s time to move on, is ridiculous and immature. Grow up.”
Excellent.
Wojo is nothing but a common troll. Great job savaging this prick.
