I guess this means that the “Great” Peyton Manning is a CHOKER and he SUCKS because he threw a PICK in the SB when he was trying to lead his team to victory…right boys?

And he STILL only has 1 SB Title….the same as Brett Favre…..

And remember, if Manning’s a Choker who Sucks, what does that make Aaron Rodgers….

Think long and hard on that one before you answer all you arrogant hypocrites…

Pack66 said in February 8th, 2010 at 7:21 am

Before Pack66 starts another 200 comment page, I will try to finish this right now.

Payton Manning, as of last night, has choked…..once, and Brett Favre has choked…..too many times to count. No ones perfect, and a “choker” is someone who consitently…chokes. aka Brett Favre.

Go Pack Go!

Pack – Favre choked. Get over it.

Really enjoyed the new live blog last night, major props are needed for the tech nerds for pulling that together.

Thanks Adam – Corey and Wally did indeed do some amazing work there. Will only get better. Our draft coverage should be amazing…

Aaron Nagler said in February 8th, 2010 at 10:09 am

I wonder if history will be kind to Peyton Manning ?

Let the spin begin. (lol)

greenbaypackerbob said in February 8th, 2010 at 11:08 am

“I wonder if history will be kind to Peyton Manning ?” – it shouldn’t be. Lots o’ stats and lots of big-game losses.

Aaron Nagler said in February 8th, 2010 at 11:50 am

Pack66 – Of course Manning’s failure in the clutch last night tarnishes his legacy (as does Favre’s countless choke jobs since 1997). And I was firmly in the “Manning is the best I’ve ever seen” camp until last night. Both Favre and Manning have failed in big games a lot more than they have succeeded. What’s your point?

———–

And Rodgers has only been starting 2 seasons – his legacy has yet to be written.

hyperRevue said in February 8th, 2010 at 12:00 pm

And What has Aaron Rodgers done but gone 17-16 in his short, unimpressive, career..???

Yet, the HERO-WORSHIP, and ARROGANCE of Packer fans regarding this particular unproven player is SICKENING…

Pack66 said in February 8th, 2010 at 12:54 pm

What I liked about the win last night was a TEAM won, not a QB. I think the Colts played conservative and placed the win or loss solely on Peyton. Players on defense and special teams won that game for the Saints, not to mention the coach making some fantastic calls on the side line. Again the Saints TEAM is > Peyton choking.

Dilligaff said in February 8th, 2010 at 12:58 pm

The hero worship of Brett Favre is what is sickening.

Ruppert said in February 8th, 2010 at 1:07 pm

Right..but last week, you haters were saying Favre wasn’t in the same league as Manning…

You “haters” crack me up…You’re always wrong!

Pack66 said in February 8th, 2010 at 1:12 pm

Um, Pack? Only one ‘hating’ here is you. Everyone else has moved on.

Aaron Nagler said in February 8th, 2010 at 1:29 pm

Love all the spin – “AR has no written legacy” and Manning and Favre are “tarnished” legacies of “choke” (lol)

Looks like that except for Bart Starr, the Packers have never had a great untarnished choking QB. (lol) If you really believe history is going to remember either Favre or Manning in this way you are going to be greatly disappointed. History will judge them on more than one game or a particular play but also on individual accomplishments … your analysis too simplistic.

greenbaypackerbob said in February 8th, 2010 at 2:15 pm

Dilligaff

Agree with your assessment of the game last night 100%.

greenbaypackerbob said in February 8th, 2010 at 2:16 pm

Greenbaypackerbob – In both Manning and Favre’s cases, the history of falling short is hardly limited to just one game.

hyperRevue said in February 8th, 2010 at 2:36 pm

Hyper

I bet about 99% of the QBs that have ever played the game would that love to have such a ‘history of falling short’. And the fact is, we will all be able to read about these ’short comings’ after their first round draft into the Hall of Fame.

cheers

greenbaypackerbob said in February 8th, 2010 at 2:41 pm

bob – No doubt. But that’s hardly an argument when discussing “greatest QBs ever.” There is no denying that Favre and Manning are among the best who’ve ever played (both Top 10, most likely) and are first ballot Hall of Famers. But when trying to determine “Greatest Ever” or even “Top 5,” Manning and Favre’s playoff failings tarnish their overall legacies and will keep them in a tier below the likes of Montana, Starr and Unitas. But Manning still has time to change that. Favre, who knows. That’s my only point.

hyperRevue said in February 8th, 2010 at 2:52 pm

Hyper

roger that, but not really on the topic of best ever QB. I was just responding to calling either Favre or Manning a choker in light of all they have accomplished and based on where they are headed.

The best ever QB? That’s a forest for me… depending on how I look at the question I might move the rankings around. But I have no trouble putting Favre in top 7 and if looking at stats, contributions, etc., maybe in the top 5… who knows for sure…. but he and Manning are GREAT QBs and that’s saying quite a lot!! I find it funny that folks here sometimes act like being in top all time 10 is some kind of casual accomplishment – e.g. arguing over number 3, 6 or 8, etc.,,, being in that elite group deserves a lot of respect period!— none of them deserve to be ridiculed as “chokers”-

greenbaypackerbob said in February 8th, 2010 at 5:08 pm

On a side note, for all the slurping that TV analysts do about how Favre “has so much fun out there,” it really doesn’t seem like Manning is having any fun playing football. The whole team is so corporate and professional and Manning’s expectations are so high that it’s a lose-lose situation – if he loses he’s a failure and if he wins, well, he was supposed to.

hyperRevue said in February 8th, 2010 at 7:49 pm

bob – and in response to your last comment, the only one throwing around the “choker” label was pack66, accusing us of doing so. Aaron said Favre “choked,” specifically in the championship game, and it’s hard to argue with that. I don’t think either are “chokers,” but they both have their share of “chokes,” if that distinction makes any sense.

hyperRevue said in February 8th, 2010 at 7:53 pm

Hyper

I can agree with your distinctions of choke with no problem. I might argue over the definition of a ‘choked game’, e.g. if the ball is in your hands and you turn it over in regulation or OT and it directly results in loosing the game … then ‘choked’ (e.g. Favre 07 and Rodgers- 09 in OT). But I would not include a game ending in a tie as a choked game. It might be choked in OT but that’s a new game, complete with new quarter, flip of the coin, time outs, etc.,.

A-Nag

This might be an interesting post (if not already covered somewhere)… did TT make the right call on head coaches??! We had an opportunity to get Sean Payton as head coach -who took a 3-13 team to the Superbowl in 4 years- instead of MM (who has no playoff wins since Favre’s departure). see link. Even Wade Phillips and Childress in the mix! lol.
