From the Press Box - July 27th, 2012

Andrew Garda is back with some camp news from the Jets, Dolphins, Jaguars, hold outs, offensive lines and mistaken identities.

So we're in the second week of Training Camps, though for some teams it's really the first full week.

There is some interesting stuff happening around the NFL so we'll run through it quickly today.

By the way, Nagler, Matt Miller, Dan Levy, Josh Zerkle and myself cranked out a ton of videos covering the Best and worst case scenarios for all 32 teams. Or I should say, I did the NFC North and everyone else did the rest as well.

Being a whore, I will drop them in liberally in these columns. I may do an extra Press Box just to cover the NFC North since I was actually in those.

So be forewarned.

Hi Tim, I mean Mark, Yeah... sorry Mr. Sanchez

As a Jets fan, that encapsulates everything I don't want to hear from camp.

We already knew there was drama to be had (most recently whether Darrelle Revis would show up or Santonio Holmes for that matter) and where Tebow goes, Drama happens.

I do wonder if this is a good thing for the Jets—they're already counted out and let's face it, when expectations are low they thrive.

The whole Tebow thing—we've talked Tebow before many moons ago and I don't think he's awful but I just don't see the logic from a football standpoint. Either you believe in Sanchez or you don't. or either you believe in Tebow or you don't.

Having two average (at this point that's kind) quarterbacks on the roster doesn't really do anything for me. Especially when reporters call Sanchez by 'Tim'.

Also, after threatening a hold out, Revis has been torched all Friday in camp. Take that for what it is.

Here's a Jets video which made me cry.

Speaking of mediocre quarterbacks—

TANNEHILL HOLDS OUT, DOLPHIN FANS FORGOT THEY CARED

For all the 'slotted rookie wages will speed signings up' talk, they seem to be doing the opposite. It's the 'off-set' laguage kerfuffle many rookies are seeing. 'Off-set' refers to the amount of money a player gets from the team if he is released before the deal expires (or put on injured reserve).

That's caused more problems than anything.

Meanwhile, Miami fans are stuck with David Garrard and Matt Moore. I agree with the consensus in the video below that they should have stuck with Moore who didn't do awfully last year.

Let's get out of the AFC East before I become ill

PAY THE LITTLE MAN!!!
Maurice Jones-Drew is holding out.

Are you a Jags fan? Did you just crap your pants a little?

Because there's nothing else there. Blackmon is not enough to fix this team. The defense is great but the offense is not.

Blaine Gabbert is skittish in the pocket, Blackmon is already in trouble and a rookie, Mike Thomas is OK, Laurent Robinson isn't a number one, the offensive line is poor....

OK, I'm depressed now.

If I am Khan (KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN) I pay the guy. Sure Jones-Drew is in part upset because he was stuck under contract when the last of the great big running back deals were getting done.

He's so carried your franchise though—shouldn't that be rewarded?

Here's the B/R guy's takes (hint, they don't like the Jaguars' chances).

I would have actually gone 8-8 as a Best Case, but then again, no MJD, no wins.

So far, no major injuries in camp though a few minor ones.

It's early yet.

By the way, this week at B/R I went over the offensive lines for the NFC North.

Pound for pound, the Packers are far and away the most complete line. Not even close.

Even with a weaker left tackle (Newhouse) the rest of the line is so much more stable than any other team. The Bears' line is scary (in a bad way), the Vikings will be good, but is missing a few pieces and the Lions' is average.

I always knew they were the class here but by how much actually surprised me until I started reading up and watching the games again.

If you've time, check them out.
Center
Right Guard
Right Tackle
Left Guard
Left Tackle

And yes, somewhere in there is an apology to TJ Lang.

Before I leave you, check out Bomani Jones with a special message for athletes (Lions) with too much free time. PS - Hard Count is coming back. With a twist!

Unfortunately the videos seem to be too big - and further I can't scale them.

Sadly I might just need to link the things instead from here on out.

Thanks for the compliments though.

Thanks for the fine analysis. It's good to keep an eye on the competition. Also fun to see Nagler mixin it up with other gurus. Mission accomplished.

I don't care what the circumstances are, a Center that gives up 11 sacks in a season shouldn't sniff the top 10...much less top 5. And he damn sure shouldn't be considered as "nipping at the heels" of Jeff Saturday...no matter the age difference.
