Former Packer Matt Hasselbeck Released by Titans

Matt Hasselbeck was a back-up quarterback on the Packers roster from 1998 to 2000. Packer fans might best remember him from the 2003 playoffs when Hasselbeck’s Seahawks won the overtime coin toss and he proclaimed, “We want the ball and we’re gonna score!”

At the age of 37, Hasselbeck now appears to find himself without an NFL team, as Jim Wyatt from the Tennessean tweeted on Monday:

Chris Mortensen, from ESPN, tweeted the following teams as potential landing spots for Hasselbeck:

With Ted Thompson and the Packers inaction in the free agency market it isn’t surprising to not see Green Bay on that list. However, after the uninspiring 2012 preseason performance by current back-up Graham Harrell, an experienced veteran on the bench might just be what the Packers are looking for.

Now this would be awesome. But essentially inconsequential. If Rodgers goes down for an extended period, they’re screwed Hasselbeck or not.

This article is pointless. Who cares!

  3. Jayme, why don’t your articles score more points??

    Silly season, people!

  5. Lucky953 says:

I’d rather they spend the money on better protection for the QB they have. LT is a relative weakness. Fewer pressures = more (and bigger) plays

‘Packer fans’ care about Hasselbeck since when? Ten years ago??

OK, I was being a jackass. But I’ve gotta say, questioning someone’s fandom…clearly more jackassy than pointing out the irrelevance of a Matt Hasselbeck post to this team.

I’m just not big on making generalizations of current Packers…let’s just say it pisses me off to no end. Top it off with the suggestion that a former Packer would be a better option when there’s absolutely no real connection other than he’s a former Packer that plays the same position as said current Packer. It just comes across as shallow and as stated, pointless. But that’s just me.

And FTR, I’m on mobile, so a post is a post to me.

questioning someone’s fandom is on par with clicking on a link and commenting on it’s irrelevance.

Just trying to speak your language.

Gotta agree with Nagler. If you don’t care … then don’t care. Don’t read it. Click the next link and move on. Ridiculous that you click a link with a subject that you don’t care about and then take even more time to comment on that subject.
Personnally, I do care what former Packers are doing. Especially if those former Packers are still relevant to the game and were popular when they were here.

LMAO… Nagz going all ghetto with the “fake ass wannabee”… Awesomeness!

  8. Denver says:

Looks like some folks here are having the same sort of day I’m having.

  9. Brooklyn81 says:

Whatevs Nagler. I love the Packers and I love this blog site which is usually right on with topics but this topic is irrelevant. so what if the Titans released him. I hope to God that ppl wouldn’t try to bandwagon him to Green Bay. Would not be a good fit. Dude sucks now. I would rather have Harrell. So you sir can eat a dick with your disrespectful personalized comments!

The point is that this site is not just for you. There are things that all types of Packer fans enjoy. I you don’t like info about ex-Packers, read something else.
