Favre Speaks, Packers Beat Listens, Fans Ready To Welcome A Legend Back

The legendary Packers quarterback made the media rounds in advance of his ensrinement into the Packers Hall of Fame.

Brett Favre made the rounds with the local media the last few days in advance of both his enshrinement into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and his charity flag football game at Camp Randall Stadium

My favorite interview was probably his chat with Jason Wilde and Bill Johnson for Green and Gold Today on ESPN Wisconsin.

Favre also spoke with ESPN's Rob Demovsky, who did a fantastic job getting some real candor from the Ol' Gunslinger. (Not that Brett has ever really needed prodding to open up. But Rob did do a great job.)

Money quote:

When did you feel like the relationship with the Packers was mended?

Favre: Like with Ted, I think my family had more, I don't know what the word would be, rage or animosity, than I did. Two times this has happened -- after we lost to the Saints when I was with the Vikings and after this breakup with the Packers happened -- my family would say, 'Why aren't you as mad as we are?' For the most part, I think I held my emotions more in check, at least I like to think so. Don't get me wrong, I think from my end it was more just a simple way of putting it. I felt like I wasn't good enough to play there but was good enough to not play against them, and that bothered me. But every time I played against Ted, or when I was with the Jets and threw six touchdown passes against the Cardinals, which was the only time in my career I ever did that, Ted sent me a message. It was always: 'Nice job. Congratulations. Amazing game.' The day that I left in my meeting with Ted, he has a way of killing you with kindness. He doesn't say a lot, but I've known Ted ever since I got to Green Bay and always got along with him, but I can't say that things were mended [at that point], but I responded to texts in a polite way myself. And Mike, there came a point where he and I started exchanging messages, I think it was after I got done playing.

Make sure you read the whole thing. It's well worth your time.

Favre also spoke with Mike Heller, who was guest hosting the Dan Patrick Show. You can listen to the interview here

And there's more in store. Next Tuesday, the Packers will air a special dedicated to Favre's Packers career entitled "One of a Kind.

I can tell you one thing. I am going to cry like a little child when Favre speaks at his enshrinement into the Packers Hall of Fame.

Yesterday was really great listening to Favre on 2 separate shows. Hearing him on Green and Gold Today was great. Wilde & Johnson did a great job.

But then it was really cool listening to him on the Dan Patrick show which was hosted by Mike Heller. Which is really cool because Heller has been doing local sports radio talk for a long time and him getting to be a host on the Dan Patrick Show is really great. I have been listening to Mike for a long time and he does a great job. If your looking for a great Wisconsin sports talk radio show check out Mike Heller Show daily from 2-6 pm.

Favre was great in both interviews though.

Awesome! Thx for the link to the interview! I can't wait till the 18th when I get to celebrate at Lambeau and welcome my childhood hero back where he belongs!!!!!
It's a shame some of you Packers fans can't allow this moment to be the happy moment it is. Just a few years ago we were all upset and unsure what the future held, but now we get to put that all in the past and MOVE ON! Favre is OUR HOF QB and OUR HERO. He's back and that should be enough, because that's all we wanted from the begining! GO PACK GO!!!
