While I would agree that Farve will be remembered fondly the fans he is pissing off now aren’t going to forget it.

Many of the fans that probably got really worked up by Starr are dead now. The rest are much older but if you ask them they are choosing to remember Starr the PLAYER and not Starr the coach.

It will be the same with Farve, many will CHOOSE to remember fondly the SB years while ignoring for the most part the last 5 years of his career where he largely was a average or below NFL QB and performed a ritual “will I/won’t I” dance in regards to his retirement every year culminating in a full on hissy fit after he RETIRED (the team had to then move on) and got bent out of shape because the team then moved on and didn’t welcome him back with open arms.

Farve always said he never wanted to come off the field even if he was injured because of how he got his job and Majik lost his. In the end Farve TOOK HIMSELF off the field/off the team and suddenly finds that he has lost his job. Its unfortunate but he needs to realize its of his making and man up and live with the decision he made.

This is the hardest part about the whole situation. Favre has been the only Packers QB I’ve known and I’ve loved watching him. I remember watching SB XXXI victory in 7th grade and being so depressed after the SB XXXII loss. I remember the joy of getting to see him play in two games at Lambeau and one at the Dome - all wins. I think about the Seattle play off game and his throwing snow balls and I love those memories.

And then I think about what he’s done in the last couple of months and I want to smack him upside the head. Because rather than seeing the down to earth, humble, team player that I thought was Brett Favre I’m seeing an egotistical jerk that makes me think he’d fit right in with the Vikings.

I really just wish he’d shut up and get back to mowing his lawn so that I can try to repress the past few months.

I know. I got to miss the majority of the Packers being crappy. Guess I’ve been spoiled.

All you cheeseheads wakepup!! We bronco fans in co. would have welcomed Elway back with open arms. He did win the superbowl two times in a row…but Farve is also very special. Look at last year only a couple of plays away from the superbowl. I am in co and a loyal bronco fan but the next team I root for is the pack…cousins in fondulac. You should be yelling loud to your management to bring him back! My thoughts anyway.

bt - you’re right - they were a couple of plays away. Hmmm. What happened then? ;)
