Fantasy Football: Setting the Cheesehead TV Lineup

Help set the Cheesehead TV starting lineup and win an opportunity to receive a free portable tailgating grill, courtesy of Crown Royal.

As part of our continuing series highlighting the Cheesehead TV team in the Crown Royal First-and-Crown fantasy football league, I want to start off by saying I sincerely tried to pick up Packers running back James Starks this week.

Truly, I did.

Unforunately, I was two minutes late when the free-agent window opened and the team representing the 49ers grabbed him. Ugh.

We really could have used Starks too.

In a 16-team fantasy football league, running back is the weakest part of our team. We've got a decent one in Washington's Alfred Morris, but beyond him, it's a crapshoot.

And this is where I solicit your help.

The league's highest scorer this week will win a portable tailgating grill, a prize we'll give away to a Cheesehead TV reader that comments in this article and gives their advice in helping to set our lineup.

This week, we'll only get the prize if we have the highest score, but I promise there will be an upcoming opportunity to get free Crown Royal swag regardless of whether we're the high scorer or not.

Listed below is the entire Cheesehead TV team, and in the comments, suggest your starting lineup of one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end, a kicker and a defense. If we're the high scorer, one of the commenters will win the free grill.

  • Patriots QB Tom Brady––Not much choice here. He's the only quarterback currently on the roster.
  • Washington RB Alfred Morris––The top option at running back.
  • Saints RB Pierre Thomas––Has produced in the past, but currently stuck in a crowded backfield.
  • Giants RB Da'Rel Scott––The G-men are terrible on the ground, but Scott is receiving the most snaps of any back.
  • Seahawks RB Robert Turbin––Plays second-fiddle to Marshawn Lynch but facing a terrible Panthers defense this week.
  • Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell––Practiced for the first time this season on Wednesday, but still may not play this week.
  • Saints WR Marques Colston––Drew Brees' top wide receiver, but maybe No. 2 to Jimmy Graham.
  • Dolphins WR Mike Wallace––They're paying him those millions for a reason, right?
  • Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin––A favorite target of Russell Wilson.
  • Falcons WR Harry Douglas––Seeing more playing time with Roddy White limited due to an injury.
  • Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph––Has more touchdowns than Greg Jennings.
  • Ravens TE Dallas Clark––Past his prime but still making a contribution.
  • Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski––It would be nice if the Patriots offense would get back to the Patriots offense of old.
  • Seahawks defense––The best defense in the league, scored 27 fantasy points last week.

There's no byes in the NFL this week, so no need to worry about that. Give your starting lineup suggestion below. The winner, should we score the highest points, will be picked at random among the comments.

For the most part, yes, but I think you could make an argument at the running back position. Thomas has done nothing so far this year, unfortunately. Maybe that will change. Hopefully that will change.

Question for you Brian, and commentors....I also Have Da'Rel Scott and am weighing him or Jason Snelling from Atlanta. Your thoughts?

I'd say it's a toss up. Steven Jackson has already been ruled out this week, which gives Snelling some value. But does he have any more value than Scott? I'm not sure. Snelling has red-zone value, but Scott is receiving the most snaps in the Giants backfield. Go with your gut.

I had that prob...And then I picked up Jacquizz Rodgers. He's going to get more carries and pass targets. Play D. Scott if Rodgers isn't available. D. Wilson nows runs like he's scared to fumble and that'll go nowhere.

Really? Hmm. I had the chance to pick up Rodgers but stuck with Scott/Snelling and of course Morris. You may just prove me wrong.

I like Snelling better than Scott this week (until Jackson's back).

At some point, maybe this week, the Giants will realize David Wilson is their best RB and fumbling once in a while is okay.

I honestly wish I could check out the top free-agents in your league, I think there are some that have been overlooked. There always is.

Brian, be like the Colts and trade for a RB. You need one.

Is this a PPR league? How many of each position do you start?

Based on what I see I'd go with this;

QB- Brady WR- Colston, Wallace, Baldwin

RB- Morris, Thomas (might be frustrated with him but Scott is worse talent in worse situation)

TE- Rudolph K- Gostkowski DEF- SEA

Also I would consider something a little more drastic to get a better RB. I would try to trade Brady if I could in a package with Thomas or Scott. Maybe you could get decent mid level QB and a guy like Ray Rice that owners are worried about. QB is deep and Brady is working with almost nothing. To me his fantasy value is not even close to what it used to be, but plenty of people are in love with the name and that increases his value.

Good luck!

It is not a PPR league, but as for the number of players started at each position, it's all explained above.

Brady
Morris, Bell (even if Bush plays, Bell will get lots of touches against a terrible Washington defense)
Colston, Wallace (I don't like Colson here, but you don't have any better options)
Rudolf
Gostkowski
Seattle

I'll go with:

--Brady (ugh... his team sucks)
--Morris
--Turbin (Christine Michael was a healthy scratch last week, so the backup role is all Turbin's it seems. If there's mop-up time, it's all his. Worth a shot.)
--Colston
--Wallace
--Rudolph
--Gostkowski
--Seahawks

Turbin might get some sneaky points. You'll be good to go when LVB gets back.

Yes, someone picked up McGahee. I wasn't quick to the trigger on that one.
