Evening Practice Quick Count: Chillar Back At ILB

After spending the last couple weeks as an outside linebacker, Brandon Chillar didn't take a single snap on the outside on Monday.

GREEN BAY – Here's some brief thoughts from this evening's practice session...

  • Brandon Chillar didn't take a single snap at outside linebacker tonight. He worked at inside linebacker in both base and nickel, although the defense seemed to be playing a lot more nickel tonight. For what it's worth, that also meant Chillar was working ahead of both A.J. Hawk and Desmond Bishop in the nickel.
  • With Chillar out, Frank Zombo was getting a bunch of reps at outside linebacker on both the right and left sides. Some of them were with the "1s" including the 11 on 11 deception period against the first-string offense.
  • Bryan Bulaga pulled out of practice early tonight. No indication what may have happened. He spent some time just observing practice but eventually went inside the Don Hutson Center.
  • Allen Barbre did not take part in practice either. He is only only new injury, and I can only assume something happened during the Seattle preseason game.
  • With both Bulaga and Barbre out of action, rookie Marshall Newhouse got more reps than usual at left tackle. Evan Dietrich-Smith got some time at left guard.
  • Special teams coach Shawn Slocum appears to have done some tweaking to his units. Sam Shields and Brandon Underwood were on the first-team kickoff unit with Jarrett Bush and Donald Lee out. That also meant a much faster kickoff unit in general.
  • Sam Shields was also part of the first-string punt return unit while Bush was not.
  • Seemed like lots of nagging injuries cropped up, but nothing I'd categorize as serious. Cullen Jenkins pulled out with an ice pack on his leg. Brad Jones was missing for a time period.
  • A.J. Hawk was practicing with the scout team only, generally an indication that he will not play in the upcoming game. The Packers are likely just being cautious with him, like they did with Charles Woodson and Nick Barnett a week ago.
  • There was no sign of Al Harris after previous reports had said he may be returning as early as today.
  • Justin Harrell practiced for the first time since last Monday after experiencing tightness in his back and his baby being born. He did play in this past Saturday's preseason game however.

Breaking News: The National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) and Owners have finalized a new collective bargaining agreement moving forward. Tackling has been abolished replaced by flags. Players pushed for two-hand-touch, but ownership stood firm......

Another false statement posted by
Reality Show wanna be pundit. Although I like the focus because millionaires posing as men in front of crowds acting like children. For a resource ask flight stewards about Professional Football Players on flights to and from games. In fact if Reggie was living I am sure he could share along with Mrs. Holmgren how child like players can be on flights. Yes Coach Mike(Super Bowl Winner)fined every player acting like a high school kid at a camp for rude actions. Yes change the rules to soot the players who act like kids in a candy store. CSS I guess your post does have some applications for New Grandstanding via exposure.

Great stuff, Michael. Random, pointless little rant completely disconnected to reality, but great stuff.

It's the comments sectin of a blog. Nobody commenting here has any delusions about being a journalist.

You can't get under my skin, Michael. Nice try, but your grade-school insults would be better spent elsewhere.

Michael - and I swear I'm not being facetious - where did you learn English?

Hard as they are to decipher, your comments have a strange poetry to them... fellow readers, let the weirdness wash over you and enjoy the ride.

Just because we have no idea what he's saying doesn't mean we can't appreciate a turn of phrase like "applications for New Grandstanding via exposure."

I think that we will soon find that the special teams' impotence is more directly tied to Jarrett Bush's lack of performace while being placed in key roles than ay other factor. Cut #24!!!

A Dad with his three young sons passed by us in the stands tonight at Packers practice. They all wore #4 jerseys which had been modified by taping a gold "1" after the "4" and replacing the name "Favre" with "Havner."

Jack and your point is that walking by you is ok if your wearing what you say they can wear. Who made you god of the Packer Nation? What are you a fashion critic now? What if some sons walked by with the #4 on there shirts would you assault them?

Why you don't mind insulting people along with the rest of your pack(not packer fans). People join in on covversation and you switch your focus on attacking posters why? By the way Pat does really have a twin and I suggest we all return to civil rights of posting on a Blog. Attacks by posters mean nothing to me and only show poor people skills. If you don't understand you can ignore it is that easy for some of you that wish to make it hard. Many forums and blogs today are being taken over by kids posing as adults and thus scares people from posting. I have not seen very much, a welcome to our blog or forum just attacks.

Perhaps we could have a busted #1 draft choices lounge here and put Jack in charge along with his or her buddies. Maybe Bret would show up for the pie in the eye contest for a charity event at the new lounge for busted #1's. Maybe Tony Mandrich could show up for a guest lecture. Or lets start a support group for soon to be cut players. Sure Jack you can make yourself useful by passing a hat around for collections. Or maybe we could invite girl friends of past players(married)in Green Bay to sell matches and other collections??????????

Pat we are dealing with spoiled babies who don't want us on here because we are not there cup of tea. I think age is a factor and I think respect is not a factor and I think they treat people on the streets just like they do on the blog. I also think they make racial assumptions and economic assumptions and education assumptions by posts. We have many friends in the Fox Valley as you know and they have communicated to us the same feelings about this blog. I shall write a letter to the Packers via my pro-active status stating how can the Packers let a forum and blog use your I.D. and be so rude to people period. And Pat you know who I know!

Let's just ignore the little Trolls and talk about football.

I'm not predicting the eminent resurgence of the Special Teams but I like what Stock/McCarthy did taking Lee and Bush off of the kick coverage 1st teams after their poor performances Saturday.

Dick Vermeil's line from Invincible. "you perform or your out of here!"
