Eddie Lacy Still Has an Opportunity to Play Against Bengals

Packers rookie running back Eddie Lacy didn't practice on Thursday, but according to head coach Mike McCarthy, he hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game despite suffering a concussion in Week 2.

McCarthy said that he wouldn't hold a healthy player out of the lineup just because the team's bye week is coming up.

However, McCarthy also said that Lacy would have to practice on Friday if he's going to play against the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend.

I just saw where the league has fined Meriweather $42,000 for his hit on Lacey. I am not sure why he wasn't fined for his hit on Starks which looked to be the same helmet to helmet type of act, even if the results were different. My question is, if the hit on Lacey had never occurred, would they have fined him for the hit on Starks? One would thinks so. In my opinion he should have received two fines -- one for each illegal hit.

Not only two fines, but a suspension. For a repeat offender, I cannot believe he was not suspended. These fines should also be a percentage of their salary...$42k to one person is not the same to another.

The only reason I can come up with for him not getting a suspension, though I don't agree with it, is that he hasn't offended in a while.

The problem with that is he likely hasn't offended in a while because he's missed over a year of football with injury. He had major intentional targeting, where he went out of his way to hit a guy helmet-to-helmet (see Todd Heap hit), fines prior to his injury problems.

That's the only reason I can come up with, but that's a stretch.

I think they should keep Lacy inactive this week, Burnett also. Take advantage of the week 4 bye and get these guys as healthy as possible. Plus I wanna see what James Starks does for an encore performance and it would be nice to see Franklin play a little bit.

Now with John Kuhn expected to miss the game does anyone else think it would have been wise to bring in another FB, maybe John Conner, a guy who was with the Bengals in training camp. Get a battering ram to replace Kuhn and get some inside info on the team they're about to face.

If ever the stars aligned for such a move it was this week and TT didn't pull the trigger. Am I the only one that sees these things?

The problem is who do you cut to make room for a one or two week fill in fullback?

Jeremy Ross is one guy we simply don't need at the moment, im sure he would pass through waivers and be available to re-sign whenever they want.

Plenty of guys could do what hes doing for GB right now, Hyde PR Franklin KR or use Cobb at one or both positions. If Ross does happened to get claimed they can always promote Johnson from the PS to fill the 5th WR role or they could look for another return man.

Other teams do this kind of thing all the time.

Quarless has a nice block from the full back position to spring Starks. The fullback is slip sliding away
