GRAND CHUTE, Wis.--You couldn't blame Donald Driver if he was looking forward to that month or so time period when minicamp ends and training camp begins.
From his triumph on ABC's Dancing With The Stars, to his return to the Packers' offseason program, to his charity softball game, to the never-ending media obligations, Driver has to be wiped out.
The Packers wide receiver acknowledged on Sunday at the Donald Driver Celebrity Softball Game that he's been stretched thin, but just like the Energizer Bunny, he's not stopping yet.
"It was a drain," said Driver. "I’ve embraced every moment. I think at this point it’s not over yet. We have a lot more things to do. It’s going to continue to go into training camp."
Driver's professional dancing partner on the reality television series was Peta Murgatroyd who hails from Australia.
And a plan is in the works for Driver to travel Down Under to visit his co-champion's native land once minicamp is done.
"I told Peta once training camp comes, I’m done," said Driver. "She called me last week and said, 'Tell me you miss dancing.' I said, "Peta, I don’t miss it at all.' But I told her that I did miss her. I’m glad she’s here to support. We’re going to go back to Australia soon and see the family."
Murgatroyd is hoping to repay the favor with a visit to Lambeau Field to watch Driver play football.
"Oh, yeah," said Murgatroyd. "I’d love to. Hopefully the first one."
Whether that means the first preseason game or regular season game is unknown.
Driver added that Murgatroyd's attendance might be dependent upon her involvement in the fall season of Dancing With The Stars, which will be airing an all-star edition bringing back past contestants.
Murgatroyd said it would be her first NFL game. And while she doesn't know much about football, her knowledge is growing.
"It’s very slim, my knowledge," said Murgatroyd. "I grew up with Aussie rules, which is a completely different game to this. What they wear, how they throw, what they run to, the lines on the field, it’s all completely different. I’ve learned a few things now. I’ve learned what Donald does. I’m so glad to be a part of Packer nation. It’s great."
