Dorsey Makes First Big Move as Chiefs General Manager
Former Packers front office executive John Dorsey has made his first big move as general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs, as first reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Multiple reports have the Chiefs sending the Niners a second round pick in the 2013 Draft and a similar pick in 2014.
It's perhaps interesting that the Chiefs made a move for Smith and not former Packers quarterback Matt Flynn who's also thought to be on the trading block with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Chiefs' commitment to Smith also makes April's Draft picture come into focus a little more clearly, all but guaranteeing Kansas City won't be selecting West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith with the No. 1 overall choice.
One direction the Chiefs could go with their first pick is offensive line, such as Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel, depending on if they choose to retain pending free agent Branden Albert. Florida defensive tackle Shariff Floyd is another possible option.

What an awful trade

49ers now have twelve picks this year before any compensatory picks are awarded (plus they get an extra second next year). Included in those twelve picks are two second rounders and two third rounders in a draft that is believed to be so-so at the top, but good depth throughout. If they draft decently this year, what excuse would Kaepernick have for not winning it all next year? And we thought the Packers were in good shape two years ago.
