I don’t think he’s lost a step, but I also don’t think he has the best hands on the team either. Especially on third down.
DD’s a great model for the younger guys and is a man over the middle. He keeps his body in magnificent shape and wants to play until he’s 40.
But he’s making plenty of money.

He’s old, he has lost a step. He still has the best hands on our team, but he’s not the best receiver. Jordy, if not this year, next year, will be better than him. And he has the biggest salary in the receiver corpse. By miles. And is complaining???? Let’s hope all those sources are wrong. Let’s hope DD hasn’t Favre’d… Pulled a Favre…

If we can leave Favre out of this discussion (oh please oh please oh please), these reports are fairly unsubstantiated, are they not? One paper has run with this and only quoted anonymous sources and everyone else is taking their lead. In the coverage that’s come out around this today Driver’s agent has said there’s nothing contract-related to it, Driver has been quoted in recent interviews as saying he’s happy with his contract and by all accounts he’s training for the season in Texas.

Chances are that DD realises, as good as he is and as much as we all adore the guy, he’s on the downward slope of his career and the chances of another team picking him up at this point are slim (see: Marvin Harrison). His best bet is to stay with the Pack until he can no longer catch footballs, be enshrined into the Packers’ Hall of Fame and appear in Pro Shop commercials for decades to come. Here’s hoping this is just a news-starved media beat-up over Driver wanting to rejig his contract for more guaranteed cash etc.

Also, as popular as Driver is he better be careful. Even a lot of people that hate Thompson like Jennings. A lot of people see him as the anti-T.O. The fact that Jennings is at the OTAS and Collins/Driver aren’t don’t exactly make them look sympathetic.

I don’t buy that they forced out Favre. I believe it was Favre’s fault for retiring last year. I was just making it a point for people that think Thompson wants to get rid of Players either pre-sherman or that he brought onto the team (when he was the GM).

Some people would take it as the Packers trying to force Driver out if they drafted Crabtree. Some people think that TT just wants his players on the team.

I also don’t get why he is unhappy. The Packers didn’t draft Crabtree. So they didn’t intend to replace him this year. It’s not like they are trying to force him out they clearly want him on the team.
