Dietrich-Smith Still Unsigned But Spending Offseason in Green Bay

Packers center Even Dietrich-Smith was offered a low tender by the Packers before the start of free agency, leading to speculation that perhaps the Packers aren’t committed to the end of season starter. Yet, Green Bay Press Gazette reporter, Rob Demovsky, while attending the Mike McCarthy press conference at the NFL owner’s meeting, tweeted this quote from the Packers coach:

Dietrich-Smith spending his offseason in Green Bay and showing committment to his current team may be a sign that he will not be testing the free agency market and will eventually sign the tender offered by the Packers.

It makes sense that Dietrich-Smith would want to stay in GB as that is probably the best chance he has to start for a team in the NFL

EDS has come a long way since he was first signed by the Packers. He gave up the hard partying lifestyle and rededicated himself to his craft. Not surprised to hear hes in GB working his tail off to prove he can be the man at C for the forseeable future.

I hope he stays and gets the opportunity to prove he belongs.

I hope EDS signs his tender. He adds depth

Hope he signs the tender, spends a year at Center and proves that he can do it. Then he can sign a nice contract next year.
