Decision on Aaron Rodgers Coming on Thursday

The Packers quarterback said during his weekly radio show that a decision on his status for Sunday's game will be made on Thursday.

If Aaron Rodgers is correct, Mike McCarthy will been telling the truth on Monday when he said a decision would be made on the Packers starting quarterback "sooner than later," although not much sooner.

Rodgers said Tuesday during his weekly radio show on ESPN radio affiliates in Milwaukee and Madison and streamed on ESPNWisconsin.com, "We've done a scan and we are going through the process of evaluation. Probably not what everybody wants to hear, but I can say definitively there will be… Thursday one way or another a definitive conclusion to this week's unknown."

In previous weeks, the Packers have taken the decision down to the end of the practice week, declaring Rodgers out on Friday for the past several weeks.

The change may have came sooner this week had it not been for the Christmas holiday, for which the team is being given the day off. Thursday will be the first day of on-field preparations for this upcoming Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears with a playoff spot on the line.

Rodgers would not go into details about the scan of his broken collarbone but did acknowledge that the team is collecting second opinions from others than team doctor Pat McKenzie.

First time comment. I don't want to read too much into it, but if you watch James Jones' interview today, a reporter asks him, "If the only thing your son wanted for Christmas was for Rodgers to play, would your son be happy?" And Jones says under his breath, "I think so." Like I said, I don't want to read to much into it, but I am hopefull!

Really? So what. This is so funny. Who cares when the decision is made to mismanage our team. You don't "schedule it". It should have been decided two weeks ago. As I said two weeks ago....Regardless of the outcome of this season....even if we win the division...remember we did that regardless of TT and his decisions. He needs to go this year. Let us all remember how he hosed us all the way to the last game of the season, regardless if it is this week or the next. We as fans don't put up with this BS.

Seriously I just can't wrap my mind around the trolling...don't know what to do about it either.

I appreciate others helping to give them a reality check even though the trolls will never change.

I love how for the trolls it's always the hottest team in the NFL that becomes the 'model' of success and how to run a team; last year it was San Fran, and now Chip Kelly is the greatest play caller in the history of the game to give a couple examples.

Further another element of the trolling is blaming Ted for the injuries.

People don't get that sometimes in life shit happens.

This year shit happened in spades to the Pack.

I am not saying Ted doesn't make mistakes... Safety play is abysmal, overpaid B Jones and Burnett to name a couple examples, but wow the endless hate and the hilarious thinking that there is a magic GM who will come in, hit on every draft pick and blow the salary cap on overpriced free agents is such a joke.

Every analyst in the country had the Pack picking Lacy in the first round this year and Ted manages to trade down and still get the guy.

Silly Ted so naive....(sarcasm)

That move alone sets up the Pack offense to be a machine in the next few years to come.

Anyway peace out. Merry Christmas Trolls.

"last year it was San Fran, and now Chip Kelly"

No - it's still San Fran.

I only have 2 "beefs" with TT...

1. He will not fill obvious holes with proven talent.
2. He sucks (lately) in the first round.

Well if we have a few losing seasons in a row, TT can draft higher in the order. If that happens he won't survive because he'll get fired for putting a losing product on the field. Mario Williams sure has put Buffalo on the map. Oh and Julius Peppers too. Bears are winning championships every year. $$$$$$ well spent.

LOL... Well said!

Spending on FA = Over-spending. You don't find much proven talent in FA unless its beyond the cap constraints of their current team. FA become FA for a reason. VERY, and I mean, VERY few FA are worth the money for the procuction. Best you can hope for is usually a stop gap player that's either older or has more holes in his game than most fans realize, till they are on the team. At which time the fans screaming and cheering the signing then are complaining that the GM bothered to waste the money!

Not a one.

You know, there might have been, and there still might be. But remember, TT shows faith and patience in his coaches in the "and develop" part of "draft and develop". He was likely expecting 22 or 43 to suck less. And when 22 failed to avoid suckage, they let him go. And, I don't think TT would deny that he makes mistakes. One thing he isn't is a BSer. An egomaniac he is not.

Don't forget TT can't sign any free agents because on the first day of training camp said free agent(s) would have ACL tears and be done for the year. Then the trolls would blame TT for not seeing the future. Plus our training staff is so dumb they don't know what a hamstring is right? (sarcasm)

He also didn't have 20M tied up (1/6 of the salary cap) in one player. And while Woodson was one of the very few who worked out very well, it doesn't change the truth. Guess you don't recognize all the facts just pick and chose the few that fit your argument.

It follows from the operative definition of "troll", which is someone the poster disagrees with.

Pot stirrers consider their pot-stirring to be truth-telling, never trolling. Trolling is what the other guy does.

Homers are stirring the pot in this thread, so the "trolls" are the more critical/analytical types.

How is saying something like "Thompson refuses to spend money" analytical? When someone points out that there is a salary cap and the Packers aren't far under it, that isn't being a "homer;" that's addressing reality. If you disagree with how Thompson builds the roster, great. There are plenty of arguments to be made that support that. But throwing out statements like "Thompson sucks because he won't spend money" are not only demonstrably false, they are what most people would define as trolling.

Even the mighty Patriots don't win every year. Playoffs sure, just like the Packers. If they some how get in this year its great, thanks to a little luck due to the suckage of da Bears and Lolins. Where would the Pats be without Brady? Belichick is lucky like MM I guess. 16 players on IR. Funny the top playoff teams are also the healthiest.

I live in New England 4th and 1 (born and raised in Milwaukee though) and as such am very dialed in to the Pats. I can say you are SPOT ON with that point. Remember traded up with New England to get Clay Matthews and DOWN with New England to get Greg Jennings. With that pick Belichek chose Chad Jackson, a receiver who never did squat. Bill can't draft and develop receivers to save his life not to mention he is a cheating S.O.B who gave 60 million dollars to a multi murderer. I'm sure our Packer troll fans would swap him for McCarthy and TT in a heart beat!

No but they didn't make the playoff either did they?! They also had a backup QB that didn't get hurt and have to end up going as low as the #4 option at QB. Cassell was on their roster and a backup to Brady for 3 full years prior to the '08 season.

Let's see how San Fran looks when they have to pay Kaepernick A-Rod money. Same goes for Seattle and Wilson. That will change the calculus for paying the rest of the team.

I know some of the people posting have played sports. Its really hard to get up for a game when you lose your best player, or players. Your almost defeated mentally before the game starts. Every player on the Packers say they have confidence in Fylnn, Tolzein, Wallace when in reality they don't. They know they're behind the 8 ball every time they step on the field. I've been there and it sucks.

Agreed. That's why I've said REPEATEDLY that losing Rodgers affects the entire team... Offensively, defensively and on ST. Every facet of game day really... Right down to the way the coaches call plays!

There is an actual grieving period involved in it too. Its why the Packers looked lost the first couple games w/o Rodgers but have regained their footing to some degree since then.

This is a really interesting point. I would guess it is probably even more the case with the Packers and Rodgers, since he is not only the "face of the franchise" but as QB also the leader of the offense -- as opposed to, say, Minnesota losing Peterson a couple years back, where they lost their best player but not the one directing everyone else in the huddle?

This is actually the one area where I think the Packers still miss Charles Woodson, even though his skills were clearly in severe decline: after Rodgers, it seems there is no one else on the team who is a real leader that the other players rally around. As the most dominant defensive player, you'd like to think Matthews would be that guy, but he doesn't seem to be. Hawk and Pickett, as the "elder statesmen," would be candidates, but they don't seem to be either. But leadership isn't necessarily a function of either skills or experience, it's a character trait that exists on its own.

Makes me wonder if the fact that there is no longer a Woodson or Reggie White at least partially contributes to the Packers' ineptitude with Rodgers out (along with the obvious fact that Rodgers' skills make everyone around him look better).
