Deadline Passes, Shields Will Return with Packers

According to Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette...

All this means is Shields can no longer sign with another team this season.

Shields has until June 15 to either sign his one-year tender offer worth just slightly north of $2 million or work out a long-term contract extension with the Packers.

If Shields does not do either by the June deadline, the Packers can reduce their tender to 110 percent of his 2012 salary.

It probably won't come to that point, but the spotlight will now be on Shields to sign a deal and take part in the Packers' offseason program. Shields could, however, take part in their workout program if he signs a waiver.
