Cory's Corner: Bring Him Back

Casey Hayward, Jr. would add needed depth to Green Bay's secondary.

I never wanted to see him go.

Casey Hayward, Jr. proved that he was a very good cornerback in Green Bay, but ended up signing a three-year, $15.3 million free agent deal with the Chargers in 2016.

In 2014, Hayward had a higher coverage grade than Darrelle Revis — good for fifth in the league. He was a solid player that complemented a defense very well.

Now it’s time to bring him back to Green Bay. Atlanta just released the 33-year-old as a cap-saving move. The Packers could use that leadership in the back of their defense, then again, the Packers could use that leadership. Period.

The good news is that the Packers can acquire Hayward at an affordable price. And what’s even better is that he has played in double-digit games in nine of 11 seasons.

The bad news is that the Packers can worry. They can worry about what Hayward has left and when his next major injury will strike.

Now is not the time for the Packers to worry. This is the time to assemble a roster that is deep, talented and brimming with leadership. I know former Packers general manager Ted Thompson had a huge issue with keeping guys past age 30. But even as a situational player, Hayward would give relief to a defense that struggled mightily at getting to the passer.

Is Hayward the missing piece to giving the Packers their first NFC North title since 2021? I don’t think so. There are plenty of holes that need to be filled — especially on offense. But adding Hayward should keep the Packers in games longer, especially if the Packers address their pass rushing deficiency.

At first glance, adding a 33-year-old to a team that is losing its Hall of Fame quarterback seems strange. Many think that this is the time that Green Bay should go young and hit the reset button.

But there needs to be some stratification as well. Mix the portfolio with fresh upstarts and proven veterans that can win.

The expectations for this team are going to be pretty low. So why not add a veteran that knows Green Bay and allow him to be motivated by those expectations.

The passing game has become the heartbeat of all NFL teams. With the nickel being the new base defense, Hayward is a lot more valuable than many may think. The Packers are facing Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Matthew Stafford and Derek Carr this coming season. And that doesn’t even count Kirk Cousins or Justin Fields twice.

It’s never a bad time to beef up the secondary.

Corner isn't our problem. If he was a safety MAYBE I would agree. Would you bring back Chris Banjo? Because he is 33, knows Green Bay, and is available. Nah, neither would I. It's time to go young, let the coaches be the leaders until a young player emerges. Next Gen time is upon us. Embrace it. When our next SB window opens, then fill some holes with vets.

Cory, I would not underestimate veteran presence on the team, but - secondary unit is not that green as somebody may think. Jaire plays on second contract. Douglas has numbers of seasons under his belt, as Moore as well. So Packers secondary is not so unexperienced as we might say on the first sight.

Also, what position do you expect Hayward wouldl play? Outside? Packers have Jaire, Douglas and Stokes. Slot? Nixon and, if needed Savage. So there is no urgent need to add another veteran.

It wan't be strange if Packers add dept at the position through draft. I would prefere that way!

EDIT: If Micah Hyde would be available, I will be strong suporter to bring him back!

I get the allure of bringing back someone who balled out for the Packers for one season, but at age 33 the Packers probably want to take a look in Hayward's mouth and see how long in the tooth he's gotten.

No.

No- I’d rather see them draft Joey Porter.
There are 10 top Cbs in this class if you want one.
And instead spending money on CB,
The DL could use a veteran back-up first.
The Draft boards are changing.
Players are dropping. And the DL5s are climbing.
Climbing into the first rd. Now.

Cory, if they get a vet FA on D I'd think they'd get an old lineman or pass rusher. That's where they could use more depth (especially early) and the leadership could come form up front too.

Now if you know Stokes isn't going to be ready and we get some camp injuries, then we could worry about depth. Might even just worry about depth on special teams (Believe the Packers would worry about STs?), as Nixon and Ford and the others might and get too busy on D.

A big NO on obtaining Casey Hayward. I doubt we could afford him, anyway. If you want a CB, the draft is where you'll find one. Christian Gonzalez recently fell to #15, in a mock. Take him and move Rasul to Safety or start Ford at Safety. I've seen Devon Witherspoon drop to #15, recently, as well. Either Joey Porter, Cam Smith or Kelee Ringo could be obtained by GB, if Gute feels they are worth moving around the board, a bit. All would be cheaper, i.e. more affordable, on a rookie deal, than Hayward would be, as a vet.

The team already has three solid corners. Can he play safety where one is gone-free agent, and the other had a performance last season that got him benched?

Cap space. The impacts of it are already being felt and a veteran won't come cheap.

Living in the past never gets you anywhere but with a head full of dreams and not much accomplished.

What role would you propose for him? He’s turning 34 this season and missed half of last season through a torn pectoral injury as well. He was starting for the Falcons before that, it’s true, but I don’t see that happening here without a lot of injuries. In a year where we are retrenching, I’d rather go with youth for depth and development and save what few cap dollars we have for filling holes we can’t fill in the draft or to cover for injury losses.

No thanks. Too old, too expensive and takes too many snaps from younger players who need to play to develop. 2023 is a reset year for the team and for the salary cap. Bringing in veterans who cost more is a mismatch with the priorities of next season.

well. he's 33, oft injured, and slowed by those injuries. his presence would mean that a younger player, someone that could play special teams would not be on the roster. you get 53. you can't waste positions on nostalgia.

Stokes is recovering from injuries and a down year. Douglas may start to fill in as a type of safety. No rookie drafted in the later rounds would be as good right away. It’s a passing league and most teams have a plethora of players in that position. We have a new coach there and maybe an additional veteran would be helpful (at the right price).

So my response is a strong… maybe 😉

In a normal year when the team has money he would be a great pickup for a couple million a year. Its not like he is washed up. He started 15 games in the NFL last year. Having him for depth would be great and we could try moving Douglas to Safety. The point is moot because we can't afford a new janitor right now.

No, don't bring him back, unless he's in the bargain bin. But of course you just knew it wouldn't be more than a hot minute before the fanboys started crying for it.

Interesting that this article mentions Hayward's coverage grade from NINE years ago, but for some reason chose NOT to mention that the Falcons cut Hayward yesterday after he failed his physical, and that Hayward managed to play in only the first 6 games last year. That's kind of important, no?

Also, why do people assume that just because a guy is old and he used to play in Green Bay that he must certainly be a great leader?

Please don’t bring him back. I think bringing in old veteran’s to help the younger players is highly overrated. If the coaches can’t teach the new recruits how to do their job then they’re not very good coaches. Not saying there’s never a situation to bring in a veteran but there doesn’t need to be an old washed up veteran in every position group to hold hands and coddle them.

I've never understood all the angst over letting Hayward go. He had ONE decent season with GB, and a couple decent seasons after he left. He's been bouncing around from team to team ever since. Five teams total I believe.

Green Bay is transitioning to a younger team. Bringing in a soon-to-be 34 year old to take snaps away from younger, hopefully ascending players would contradict that approach. This isn't a Tramon Williams situation when he came back to GB. Pass.

I believe it's because he had a good season in GB then the original "CHEAP" TT let him walk and he became an ALL PRO with Chargers immediately after. So we have questions of poor decision from TT and poor Defensive coaching/ systems who failed the player and held him back from being better. Then there is TT and Hyde to buffalo fiasco. Draft and develop works if you actually keep a few better players to concentrate on other areas of your team that need help in the draft instead of cutting your own legs out from under yourself when you may have to pay someone what they are worth.

Unfortunately, in the salary cap era, you can't pay everyone what they're worth. Every team has had to let players move on due to cap restraints. You can't sign every player you draft to a 2nd contract. Sometimes those players go on to have productive careers elsewhere, some you never hear from again or they bounce around the league like Heyward has. It isn't something unique to GB, or an indication that they're cheap. It's reality in today's NFL.

Okay, so in 2017 we drafted K. King, 2018 J. Alexander (pay dirt). I happen to remember King getting beat deep in the NFCC game with the Bucs.....So, not keeping Hayward is only a big deal if you like to win Trophies. That's where this decision begins and ends with me. We F'd up and it cost us big time and we had just drafted Rollins and Randle in 2015...How well did that work out. The fact that neither player showed anything should have been a warning not to let Hayward walk. Hayward had 2 second team all pro and 2 pro bowls with the Chargers in 2017-2018. TT is the epitome of cheap as rarely dipping into the FA market.

"So, not keeping Hayward is only a big deal if you like to win Trophies."

So Casey Hayward is the difference between winning championships or not? How many trophies did GB win during the 4 years he was here? How many did the Chargers win with Hayward? The Raiders? Falcons?

And if you're suggesting that letting Hayward walk after the 2015 season had anything to do with losing to TB 6 years later...that's one hell of a reach.

The difference between you and I is: I want you to change your moniker to 14 X Champs and doing dumb shit like letting a solid player walk without an offer is poor management. Allowing a DC to improperly use players to fit their system instead of player strengths is also poor coaching and management not recognizing its net effect on the team is a failure. When a player moves on it is still the GM's duty to see how that player progresses in his career and see if the coordinator did his due diligence with that player or did he use him in the same manner the player now succeeds. If you are not doing that hopefully someone above him is and sees a cascade of problems that need rectified. This is how we learn. I believe Hayward with Alexander tandem would have played better than King and Alexander. The 2015 dynamic duo had already been traded or cut. King instead of Watt another TT head scratcher. I'm thinking Watt and Hayward in that game would be a net positive. Not making a point to teach how to set the edge against a heavy run focused team like SF ran our guts into the ground. Not drafting a couple DL players to put on the DL after Mike left. It's not just one thing that has taken this team out of every championship match,,,,It's several, like just now after another NFCC fail on ST our CHEAP management FINALLY got us a legit ST Coach and has prioritized players to fill those positions. Management learns at a snails pace. I see Colossal mistakes rampant everywhere for each instance that is obvious to most fans.Never getting a #2 WR next to DA...after Cobb left. Not getting a #1 or #2 WR last season...Not trading AR last season.

Ok, I'm not going to waste any more time talking about a player who hasn't been on our roster in 8 years. You're convinced Hayward would have brought us a 14th 'chip, and that's certainly your prerogative. I've seen zero evidence to back that up.

Agree Taryn!

The Packers should be looking forward & creating a 'young' and promising team. STOP with the signing of old & past their value players. Sign a borderline veteran and now he takes away playing & development time from a young player. There are dozens of recent examples of this!

Cory,

Agree with everything you said on Casey Hayward.

The Packers should have never let him get away - like so many others.

Cory - and anyone else - what is the most the Packers should pay:

1) in salary

2) signing bonus

and if Casey would not accept a 1 year contract, would you give him a 2 year contract?

I missed yesterday's tight end drafting discussion. Here are my thoughts:

Below are the draft numbers for tight ends drafted by round from 1986 through 2022.

Between 1986 through 2022, 564 tight ends were drafted and of those 564 drafted 34 made the 1st or 2nd team All Pro at least one time.

Of those tight ends that made the all pro team, the most - 12 - were BY FAR drafted in the FIRST ROUND.

RND TEs All Pros % All Pros
1 35 12 34.3%
2 55 6 10.9%
3 73 6 8.2%
4 76 2 2.6%
5 86 3 3.5%
6 78 4 5.1%
7 102 1 1.0%
8 18 0 0.0%
9 12 0 0.0%
10 13 0 0.0%
11 10 0 0.0%
12 6 0 0.0%
Total 564 34 6.0%

As you can see, you are much more likely to find an All Pro tight end IN THE FIRST ROUND
than any of the lower rounds as would be true with any position.

And the probability of finding an all pro drops with each succeeding round.

That's not to say the Packers should draft a tight end in the first round this year, it is just to say that data shows VERY CLEARLY that the most All PROs - AT ANY POSITION - are going to be found in the FIRST ROUND, which is completely consistent with logic.

2 undrafted players made all pro as well - Antonio Gates and Chad Lewis - bringing total All PRO tight ends signed during the 1986 through 2022 period to 36.

Here are Tight ends that were drafted between 1986 and 2022 and made 1st or 2nd team All Pro from

First Round
Dallas Clark
Eric Green
Greg Olsen
Jeremy Shockey
Keith Jackson
Marcedes Lewis
T.J. Hockenson
Todd Heap
Tony Gonzalez
Vernon Davis

Second Round
Alge Crumpler
Ernie Conwell
Hunter Henry
Jimmy Graham
Wesley Walls
Zach Ertz

Third Round
Chris Cooley
Ferrell Edmunds
Jason Witten
Mark Andrews
Rob Gronkowski
Travis Kelce

Fourth Round
Jackie Harris
Jordan Cameron

Fifth Round
Ben Coates
Brent Jones
George Kittle

Sixth Round
Darren Waller
Delanie Walker
Frank Wycheck
Jay Novacek

Seventh Round
Shannon Sharpe

Undrafted
Antonio Gates
Chad Lewis

Packer experience with tight ends is very similar.

From 2003 through 2022 the Packers drafted nine tight ends:

Player, Draft Year, Round, Pick #

1) Clark Harris, 2007, 7, 243
2) Jermichael Finley 2008, 3, 91
3) Andrew Quarless 2010, 5, 154
4) D. J. Williams 2011, 5, 141
5) Ryan Taylor 2011, 7, 218
6) Richard Rodgers 2014, 3, 98
7) Kennard Backman 2015, 6, 213
8) Jace Sternberger 2019, 3, 75
9) Josiah Deguara 2020, 3, 94

9 tight ends since 2003 and none made pro bowl or all pro.

Packer tight ends picked in the first round:

Bubba Franks 2000, 14th pick (3 pro bowls), Rich McGeorge 1970, 16th pick

Lombardi never picked a tight end in the first round from 1959 through his last year as GM in 1968.

Packer tight ends that have made the pro bowl beyond Bubba Franks:

Jackie Harris 4th round, 102 pick did not make any pro bowls but made 2nd team All Pro in 1992.

Mark Chmura 1992, 6th round, 157th pick (3 pro bowls and all pro in 1995 and 1998)

Keith Jackson 1988 1st round 13th pick (1 pro bowl with Packers - 3 other times with Eagles and once with the Dolphins, 5 time all Pro 3 times with the Eagles, 1 time with the Dolphins and 1 time with the Packers)

Ron Kramer 1957 1st round, 4th pick (1 pro bowl with Packers, 2 time all pro with Packers, 1962 and 1963)

Paul Coffman all pro 1982, 1983, and 1984 and Pro Bowl the same 3 years.

Here below are the tight end numbers for the 1986 through 2012 time period the author speaks of - round picked and how many made all pro:

RND TEs All Pros % All Pros
1 26 11 42.3%
2 38 5 13.2%
3 46 5 10.9%
4 50 2 4.0%
5 63 2 3.2%
6 57 3 5.3%
7 82 1 1.2%
8 18 0 0.0%
9 12 0 0.0%
10 13 0 0.0%
11 10 0 0.0%
12 6 0 0.0%
421 29 6.9%

Once again you can see that you are much more likely to find an ALL PRO tight end in the 1st round rather than subsequent rounds and the probability drops with each successive round.

Here below are the tight end numbers for the 2013 through 2022 time period the author speaks of - round picked and how many made all pro:

RND TEs All Pros % All Pros
1 9 1 11.1%
2 17 1 5.9%
3 27 2 7.4%
4 26 0 0.0%
5 23 1 4%
6 21 0 0%
7 20 0 0%
Total 143 0 0%
Rounds 2 thru 7 134 4 3%

The author apparently overlooked T. J. Hockenson (drafted in the 1st round with the 8th overall pick in 2019) as Hockenson made 2nd team all pro in 2020 - he has also made 2 pro bowls.

Once again you can see that you are much more likely to find an ALL PRO tight end in the 1st round rather than subsequent rounds and the probability drops with each successive round.

Here are all the tight ends drafted between 1986 and 2022.

How many Packers can you find?
Year No. Round Pick Player Name Team College
2022 1 2 23 55 Trey McBride Cardinals Colorado State
2 3 9 73 Jelani Woods Colts Virginia

Is there any way to put a stop to this nonsense? This guy is completely taking over every thread on this site. Intentionally, I might add. Listing every TE taken since 1986? Really? What possible value does that bring to any conversation?

I'm typically very anti-censorship, but this has gotten beyond ridiculous. He's making a total mockery of this site. Hopefully, something can be done.

STR is the reason why you should never allow internet access in the psych ward. So it's really the hospital's fault, I think.

Which of course just evidenced a total lack of actual understanding of Heyward or the current team too. This guy is a troll not a fan of the Packers or football.

When was the last time you had a coherent thought?

Why do you insist on being "that" guy every day?

Why waste your time and ours?

Why?

Alexa, what does "pointless verbosity" look like?

It's axiomatic that you can never have too many good DBs, because they're half the defense, and they make more than half the the tackles, and you play a lot of the game with 5 or 6 of them on the field. Sadly, we only get to dress a limited number, and we usually wouldn't have more than 6 CBs on the 53 man roster.

Currently, we have 3 real good ones, who will play the majority of snaps if they're healthy.

After that, we have Nixon, primarily because of his prowess at returning kicks.

That leaves two spots to be filled by: Corey Ballantine, Kiondre Thomas, SheMar JC, Ben Franklin, and Tyrell Ford. All of these guys are minimum wage guys who might have a future, as opposed to Heyward who is not and does not. IF you absolutely, positively, believe we need a CB who can come in and start for us, you'll need to take that guy early. If you don't, then why bring in Heyward?

Cory,

Agree with everything you set on Casey Hayward.

The Packers should have never let him get away - like so many others.

Cory - and anyone else - what is the most the Packers should pay:

1) in salary

2) signing bonus

and if Casey would not accept a 1 year contract, would you give him a 2 year contract?

I missed yesterday's tight end drafting discussion. Here are my thoughts:

Below are the draft numbers for tight ends drafted by round from 1986 through 2022.

Between 1986 through 2022, 564 tight ends were drafted and of those 564 drafted 34 made the 1st or 2nd team All Pro at least one time.

Of those tight ends that made the all pro team, the most - 12 - were BY FAR drafted in the FIRST ROUND.

RND TEs All Pros % All Pros
1 35 12 34.3%
2 55 6 10.9%
3 73 6 8.2%
4 76 2 2.6%
5 86 3 3.5%
6 78 4 5.1%
7 102 1 1.0%
8 18 0 0.0%
9 12 0 0.0%
10 13 0 0.0%
11 10 0 0.0%
12 6 0 0.0%
Total 564 34 6.0%

As you can see, you are much more likely to find an All Pro tight end IN THE FIRST ROUND
than any of the lower rounds as would be true with any position.

And the probability of finding an all pro drops with each succeeding round.

That's not to say the Packers should draft a tight end in the first round this year, it is just to say that data shows VERY CLEARLY that the most All PROs - AT ANY POSITION - are going to be found in the FIRST ROUND, which is completely consistent with logic.

2 undrafted players made all pro as well - Antonio Gates and Chad Lewis - bringing total All PRO tight ends signed during the 1986 through 2022 period to 36.

Here are Tight ends that were drafted between 1986 and 2022 and made 1st or 2nd team All Pro from

First Round
Dallas Clark
Eric Green
Greg Olsen
Jeremy Shockey
Keith Jackson
Marcedes Lewis
T.J. Hockenson
Todd Heap
Tony Gonzalez
Vernon Davis

Second Round
Alge Crumpler
Ernie Conwell
Hunter Henry
Jimmy Graham
Wesley Walls
Zach Ertz

Third Round
Chris Cooley
Ferrell Edmunds
Jason Witten
Mark Andrews
Rob Gronkowski
Travis Kelce

Fourth Round
Jackie Harris
Jordan Cameron

Fifth Round
Ben Coates
Brent Jones
George Kittle

Sixth Round
Darren Waller
Delanie Walker
Frank Wycheck
Jay Novacek

Seventh Round
Shannon Sharpe

Undrafted
Antonio Gates
Chad Lewis

Packer experience with tight ends is very similar.

From 2003 through 2022 the Packers drafted nine tight ends:

Player, Draft Year, Round, Pick #

1) Clark Harris, 2007, 7, 243
2) Jermichael Finley 2008, 3, 91
3) Andrew Quarless 2010, 5, 154
4) D. J. Williams 2011, 5, 141
5) Ryan Taylor 2011, 7, 218
6) Richard Rodgers 2014, 3, 98
7) Kennard Backman 2015, 6, 213
8) Jace Sternberger 2019, 3, 75
9) Josiah Deguara 2020, 3, 94

9 tight ends since 2003 and none made pro bowl or all pro.

Packer tight ends picked in the first round:

Bubba Franks 2000, 14th pick (3 pro bowls), Rich McGeorge 1970, 16th pick

Lombardi never picked a tight end in the first round from 1959 through his last year as GM in 1968.

Packer tight ends that have made the pro bowl beyond Bubba Franks:

Jackie Harris 4th round, 102 pick did not make any pro bowls but made 2nd team All Pro in 1992.

Mark Chmura 1992, 6th round, 157th pick (3 pro bowls and all pro in 1995 and 1998)

Keith Jackson 1988 1st round 13th pick (1 pro bowl with Packers - 3 other times with Eagles and once with the Dolphins, 5 time all Pro 3 times with the Eagles, 1 time with the Dolphins and 1 time with the Packers)

Ron Kramer 1957 1st round, 4th pick (1 pro bowl with Packers, 2 time all pro with Packers, 1962 and 1963)

Paul Coffman all pro 1982, 1983, and 1984 and Pro Bowl the same 3 years.

Here below are the tight end numbers for the 1986 through 2012 time period the author speaks of - round picked and how many made all pro:

RND TEs All Pros % All Pros
1 26 11 42.3%
2 38 5 13.2%
3 46 5 10.9%
4 50 2 4.0%
5 63 2 3.2%
6 57 3 5.3%
7 82 1 1.2%
8 18 0 0.0%
9 12 0 0.0%
10 13 0 0.0%
11 10 0 0.0%
12 6 0 0.0%
421 29 6.9%

Once again you can see that you are much more likely to find an ALL PRO tight end in the 1st round rather than subsequent rounds and the probability drops with each successive round.

Here below are the tight end numbers for the 2013 through 2022 time period the author speaks of - round picked and how many made all pro:

RND TEs All Pros % All Pros
1 9 1 11.1%
2 17 1 5.9%
3 27 2 7.4%
4 26 0 0.0%
5 23 1 4%
6 21 0 0%
7 20 0 0%
Total 143 0 0%
Rounds 2 thru 7 134 4 3%

The author apparently overlooked T. J. Hockenson (drafted in the 1st round with the 8th overall pick in 2019) as Hockenson made 2nd team all pro in 2020 - he has also made 2 pro bowls.

Once again you can see that you are much more likely to find an ALL PRO tight end in the 1st round rather than subsequent rounds and the probability drops with each successive round.

Here are all the tight ends drafted between 1986 and 2022.

How many Packers can you find?

Dear STR,

I think it's adorable that you like your own posts.

It is important to note that not all people who engage in trolling behavior on internet message boards necessarily have a mental health issue. Trolling behavior can be a deliberate attempt to provoke or upset others, often for entertainment purposes or to elicit a reaction. However, there are some mental health issues that may contribute to or be associated with trolling behavior.

One possible mental health issue that could contribute to trolling behavior is personality disorders, such as narcissistic personality disorder or antisocial personality disorder. These disorders are characterized by a lack of empathy for others, a disregard for social norms and rules, and a tendency to exploit others for personal gain or pleasure. Trolling behavior can be a way for individuals with these disorders to assert their dominance and control over others, or to derive pleasure from causing others distress.

Other mental health issues that may contribute to trolling behavior include anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Trolling can provide a temporary sense of relief from negative emotions or feelings of inadequacy, as the individual may feel a sense of power or control over others. However, this relief is often short-lived and can lead to feelings of guilt or shame, which can further exacerbate underlying mental health issues.

It is also worth noting that social factors, such as anonymity and a lack of consequences for online behavior, can contribute to trolling behavior. As such, it is important to address both the individual's mental health issues and the social context in which trolling occurs in order to effectively address the behavior.

Do you have friends in real life who will talk with you? Maybe they'd enjoy a visit from you.

Sincerely,
Leotis

"Trolling behavior"

Dear Leotis,

Where is the troll?

I commented on Casey Hayward and was in agreement with Cory that the Packers should sign him and I asked how much salary and signing bonus he should be paid and if he should be offered a 2 year contract if he will not agree to 1 year.

In addition, I provided:

1. 36 years of NFL tight end draft picks - some 564 data points.
2. For the entirety of the NFL, the All Pros were found most in the first round of the 12 rounds.
3. The Packers experience drafting tight ends - which is comparable to the NFL's experience - of the 9 tight ends drafted from 2003 through 2022 - all below the first round, none of them were All Pro and most easily forgotten.

Leotis, try to stick to football. It seems you have a lot of experience with mental health - maybe from receiving mental health services - but this website is about Packer football and for Packer Fans.

And a Packer Fan is simply one that cheers the players year after year, whether they win or lose.

A fan is not a sycophant of Management.

let's leave mental health advice to the experts.
We're all a little messed up if we spend this much energy on football, fanatical almost.
Oh yeah, that's what a fan is.
We really need to get to the draft and hopefully the trade so we have some fresh material to chew on.
Come on Gutey, we really need you right now.

STR, maybe you could try to set a record for posting the same never-ending crap the most times in one thread.
Or set a new record for ruining the most threads with your monotonous recitations of the same info every day. Nobody reads your stuff, we all just scroll past it and try to get back to the original subject of the thread.

Maybe you should try just writing a book somewhere else, so we don't have to be subjected to this abuse everyday. Newsflash! Nobody will read that either.

Corie's reasoning is flawed. The Packers have plenty of leadership in the defensive backfield. Alexander and Douglas are two capable veterans. The youngster Stokes is returning from an ankle injury. Clearly it is better to spend resources on drafting a couple of safetys. Or wait and see who gets cut because of cap purposes at safety and make a run at a veteran. With the added #2 from the Rodgers trade, this becomes a very teal possibility.

As a life long GB fan, I am keeping my expectations low for 2023. Lets face it - Love's first season is unlikely to be outstanding. And without an outstanding cast to support him - either on offense or defense - I don't believe our record will be great. I would be astounded if we got to 9-8 or better...

Accordingly, why bring a guy back late in his career at a position where you are strong re: CB? Yes, a great price would help and if he could play safety or nickel? This is a year for, shall I say it, a "rebuild". So, why? Find a young guy with wheels and who is less expensive. Leave the past as the past.
