Collins Questionable, McCarthy Anticipates He'll Play

While Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins is listed as "questionable," all indications are that he'll play on Sunday against the New York Giants.

The official injury report may list safety Nick Collins as "questionable," but the indications from head coach Mike McCarthy sure made it seem he's probably a better candidate for the "probable" category.

McCarthy indicated Collins had a minor setback in regards to his rib injury, which forced him to leave last week's game at New England, but also said, "I fully anticipate him to play."

In other news, McCarthy didn't rule out that the team could make a move at the outside linebacker position.

Apart from Clay Matthews, both Erik Walden and Diyral Biggs are listed as questionable. Frank Zombo is doubtful. The only other outside linebacker on the team is Robert Francois, but it's possible Desmond Bishop will see more snaps there like he did last week.

Of the injured players, Erik Walden seems the most likely to play, and it's possible they'll give him a light workload on special teams to keep him fully available on defense.

It's difficult to envision the Packers making a roster move at outside linebacker outside of possibly elevating Mike Rivera from the practice squad. Any other player would have no practice time this week and limited knowledge of the Packers' defensive scheme.

This is random and barely relates to the story, but I just realized today that Bulaga and Wilson, TT's first and last picks, are the only 2 rookie draft picks that haven't missed substantial time (2 or more games) due to injury this season. And Shields I believe is the only undrafted guy. What a fluky thing.

It's not difficult to see why GB is struggling to make the playoff field ..... Here are the records of games decided by less than a TD (6 points or less) per playoff team or possible playoff team .....

Atlanta (7-1), NO (5-2), Bears (5-2), Philly (4-2), TB (5-3), Giants (2-0)..... GB (2-6) .......

GB will either need to blow the Giants out or change their tendency to lose close games ...... I'll take either scenario.

Off topic but food for thought.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

"William Stephen "Bill" Belichick (born April 16, 1952) is an American football head coach for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. After spending his first 15 seasons in the league as an assistant coach, Belichick got his first head coaching job with the Cleveland Browns in 1991. Of his five seasons coaching Cleveland, only one featured a winning record, and Belichick did not serve as head coach again until 2000 with the Patriots. Since then, Belichick has coached the Patriots to four Super Bowls; three victories in Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, and XXXIX, and a loss in Super Bowl XLII. He was named the AP NFL Coach of the Year twice, for the 2003 and 2007 seasons".

Please note once again. During his first HC experience he had only one winning season. Think Cleveland would like him back now? Let's cut McCarthy some slack.
