Lambeau, Lombardi, Starr and Harlan.

Lambeau obviously started and kept the franchise alive for decades.

Lombardi resurrected a sinking franchise and turned Green Bay into Titletown leading the greatest dynasty in NFL history.

Starr, while a reflection of Lombardi on the field, was the best big game QB in GB history, his accomplishments and the titles that followed make him the most impactful player in GB history.

Harlan led yet another revitalization of the GB Packers after decades of regression. All of the successes of the 90's forward are the result of the efforts of Bob Harlan.

Murphy simply copied the blueprint established by other NFL franchises. He has had no original projects in his time as Team President.

He has been the definition of a placeholder with very mediocre execution skills.

His mishandling of issues that should have been squarely on the GM's desk has me downgrading his overall performance.

I believe that one player should be on the GBP Mt Rushmore and after much thought that one player is none other than... Bryan Bartlett "Bart" Starr.

Aaron, thanks for not reading this comment. But an interesting layout. I've never heard or read about the scout you mentioned under Lombardi. Good points about Murphy who I gather is not related to the local Murphy family.

You never heard of Jack Vainisi???

Every story about Vince Lombardi tells about the stellar scouting and groundbreaking methods of Jack Vainisi.

The stories always mention the enlarged heart Vainisi got from a bout with ?Rhuematic Fever? as a youth and how that kept him from playing the sport he loved so much and ultimately caused his cardiac arrest and untimely death.

" Over his ten-year career, Vainisi scouted and recommended drafting or acquiring eight future Pro Football Hall of Famers.[3][9][10] The Packers 1958 NFL Draft class is considered one of the best in history, as it included three Hall of Famers (Jim Taylor, Ray Nitschke, and Jerry Kramer) and one all-pro (Dan Currie).[11] Vainisi convinced the Packers to select future Hall of Famer Paul Hornung with the first pick of the 1957 NFL Draft and drafted Hall of Famers Jim Ringo, Bart Starr and Forrest Gregg.[6][12] Vainisi also signed Willie Wood as a free agent in 1960.[6] By the end of 1961, when the Packers won their first NFL Championship since 1944, 17 of the 22 offensive and defensive starters were acquired in some way by Vainisi."

"Vainisi's greatest contribution to the Packers was his behind-the-scenes work in the hiring of Vince Lombardi in 1959.[5][7] Vainisi lobbied on Lombardi's behalf to team president Dominic Olejniczak and the board of directors of Green Bay Packers, Inc.[6] He also warned Lombardi to demand full control as coach and general manager to avoid interference by the directors in football decisions. During his interview, Lombardi stated to the board that he would not have considered Green Bay if it was not for Vainisi."

Truly one of the unsung, under appreciated architects of those great 60s teams.
