CHTV NFL Draft: This is How We Roll

Garda says hello and lays out his plans for draft coverage here at CHTV.

Hey folks, it's me: The New Guy.

I just wanted to take a moment and let you know how excited I am to be on board here at CheeseheadTV and what I'll be bringing to the table over the next month or so leading up to the NFL Draft.

Because despite the best efforts of the owners and players, the Draft won't be stopped.

Between now and April 28th-30th, I'll be throwing out a bunch of information about various incoming rookies - some of them will be directly Packer related, some of them will seem more general. The thing to remember about the Draft is, you can never really be sure who is going to end up on your team. So you might as well know as much about as many players as you can.

I'm still fiddling with the details of my approach. I'll do some compare and contrast. I'll do some standard analysis. I'm hoping to incorporate some videos maybe with some footage if I can pull it off.

More than anything, I'm going to try and avoid your common breakdowns - there are plenty of sites doing that (and I will be directing you to them and referencing them). What I'd like to do is the approach Brian took for the CHTV Draft Guide - in depth analysis with examples from games I've watched.

See I can tell you about a  player's explosion off the line or their arm strength or their 40 time but what you really want to know is far more basic:

Can they play?

Fellow Draft analyst, Footballguy and good friend Cecil Lammey says it best: Tape Don't Lie.

When I watch game tape, either the guy can play or he can't. And either way, I want to show you what I see that tells me.

So, that's how I'm gonna roll. Anything I see I'll throw up here, including links to analysis, mocks and other stuff from some very good Draftnicks I've had the pleasure of getting to know over the last few years.

If there's somebody you really, really need to get my take on, drop me a line at ThunderingBlurb (at) gmail (dot) com and I'll do my best to weave it in.

Thanks for the welcome folks. There's a lot of exciting stuff coming up and I can't wait for you to see what we've got in store.

Exactly. I'm so sick of hype and combine numbers, and can't wait for this type of reporting. Really glad to hear what you'll be bringing!

And speaking of hype, I think Cam Newton is the most overhyped QB since Jamarcus Russell. I'm hoping most teams realize it so he falls to the Vikings. If they drafted Newton at 12 it would be like the Metrodome roof caving in all over again. Packer Christmas!

Thanks! And yeah, Newton is a bit overhyped - but stands out in an overall weak Qb class.

Chris Kouffman and Simon Clancy have been doing a good job with the same idea (analysis with supporting tape/game explanation) at SunSentinel.com. Worth checking out. Did a great job on Ponder last entry.

Nuh huh!
Cam Newton is an entertainer and an icon, and Cam Newton is a really down-to-earth kind of guy! No, really! Team Cam has said so to him!
