Capers Reading Tundra Vision?

By now you’ve all read about “Big Okie”, the five linebacker formation Dom Capers revealed yesterday, with Brandon Chillar in as a “linebacker/safety hybrid.” This seemed to take a lot of fans by surprise - but not those who read C.D. Angeli over at Tundar Vison with any regularity. From this past Saturday:

The safety turmoil of the past week has got many Packer fans (and players) a little unsettled, as it appears the Packers weren’t particularly ready for injuries to both our starters. Now, the position seems to be resting rather precariously on Nick Collins’ ability to play through pain and the promise of two players who weren’t in training camp. Oh, and Jarrett Bush.

With all this uncertainty, I offer this little tidbit of creativity: play Brandon Chillar at safety.

It makes a lot of sense, just probably not common sense. But when you are playing without all the bullets in your gun, you need to improvise.

CD is omniscient. I seem to remember he brought this up on the last Cheesehead Nation blogcast. I’m impressed

CD, can you bend spoons with your mind?

Actually, after the two TD catches it didn’t look too bad. It looks like communications may have a been an issue, though.
    ____
Some good news – bad news!
    _____
Bad – Jackson, probably won’t play Monday
Good – Clifton has made significant progress and could be ready for Monday

  3. C.D. Angeli says:

No one was as shocked as me.

That stated, I hoped it would have been more successful, but I do see this as a “practice run” for what they are going to hope to do against the Vikings: bring in Big Okie and try to contain AP and force a certain quarterback to beat them.
