Jim

Favre was an integral part of the Packers success for over 16 yrs. He had a lot more to give as proven in the past 2 seasons. My reference to him is simply to show how dogmatic TT and MM are in their goals for this team. No matter how bad the decision making has become it is not going to get any better. In fact, I believe a lot of their current mission surrounds their attempt to cover their butts after making a very 'premature move'. Here is what I wrote on another post (that PackerRS said he agreed with 100%)... I quote (myself!)

“Good discussion above…(Much more to come)

More effort should have been prepared getting the team setup so that it could support a new inexperienced QB. I don’t believe the team was ready for the change.

Everybody wanted the decision to replace AR with Favre to work so bad that the expectations for Rodgers were unrealistic. He is not Favre… maybe in the future but not now. Reasonable folks knew what lay ahead.., yada, yada – old story.

I believe Rodgers holds the ball to long but perhaps with experience that will get better. And he will not last in the NFL running the ball even though he has some talent at it or playing crouching tiger behind a weak OL. Throw it away or give a top receiver a chance to make a play (forget the stats- they only protect TT and MM). But he cannot make an excuse about the cards he was dealt. That’s just the way it is.

Overall, I still believe TT is the primary cause of the current situation and MM is on his coat tail.”

Jim- don't be sour grapes over Favre, there are many of us (probably the great majority) that will always include him in our GB discussions/blogs. Its hard not to after 16 years of my 40 years of Packer support. - I am 52 and have watched more football over the years than I care to admit. It was a long time between 1968 and 1992.... I don't want to go back looking at ice bowl, 1996-97 SB and divisional playoff -tapes- but fear we are heading back to that reality for a long time. Changes do not have to produce 'droughts' if managed properly.

Bob, I am not a TT or MM homer. Unlike you, I am also not a Brent homer, either. Bob, all you ever say here is Brent this and Brent that and how much you hate TT and MM for driving him away. Just lose the Favre-man-love (he's been gone from the Packers' roster for 1.5 years, OK?), and simply focus on the Packers players, coaching, and front office. If you can bring yourself to do that, you won't be criticized by me any more. Your call, Bob.

Jim & PackersRS

Your comments and responses lack any point or argument toward the current dire situation. Name calling, and going na, na, na is not very impressive. Quit staring at your eyelids. It's like TT has hypnotized you.... "trust in me, trust in me"...

Live in the past if you are happy there but in the current setup you have no future - a path was chosen in the summer of 08 and in aftermath of the 08 and 09 season we better make some serious changes or folks around the league will be calling -us- 'airheads' instead of 'cheeseheads' (but then, maybe that doesn't concern you).

Pack66 - 1. You assume I support TT & MM.
2. There is more chance of Monica Lewinsky being invited to dinner at the Clinton's house this weekend than anyone on this site agreeing with your confused and often illogical arguments (if arguments can be applied to what you post).

The "GOOD" : Ahman Green - YES! Ryan Grant - NO! A chicken shit who will not command extra yardage when challenged by defenders (OVER RATED!). Aaron Rogers - YES! He is tough, smart, has an arm, can scramble, reads defensives - BUT HIS O-LINE DOES NOT RESPECT HIM! He needs Jordy Nelson back in the line up & a dependable tight-end - this helps Donald Driver and Greg Jennings. Packers have one of the best, if not THE best, receiving corps in the NFL but without a dominate o-line
it means nothing!!

Hey everyone - I alluded to this earlier back in week eight but will be more specific: 1) the Packers lack a dynamic head coach. 2) the Packers lack great talent, with the exception , of course, of a notable few. Now, you may laugh, ridicule, & make comparisons saying: " Things have changed in today's NFL & players & coaching philosophy are different than 'back then' "... but the Game is the Game and LEADERSHIP is still a top proponent to actualize VICTORY! Lombardi inherited a team in 1959 that had talent but was going NO WHERE because they, i.e. the players, lacked determined, disciplined direction. A coaching change is in order, a coach who can recognize each player's ability, placing them in the correct position & calling the correct plays accordingly to attain the maximum results. However, this will not happen in GB until there is a GM who is on the same page as the next prospective head coach who exemplifies the attitude, "Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a LOSER". Ted Thompson was a second rate LB in the NFL - truly, WHAT DOES HE KNOW?! Murphy needs to get his s**t together, listen the to "PACKERS FAITHFUL" and make the NECESSARY changes in order to prevent a 70's/80's repeat of Packers' history!

The NFL has the book on stopping the Packers offense. You cover Jennings and Driver on the deep routes, don't let them get open, and eventually Rodgers will take a sack. You might get burned by Jones or Nelson occasionally, but they aren't good enough to consistently beat guys 1-on-1, so you only have to worry about those 2 guys, since Rodgers will be looking for the deep routes to break open instead of checking down, if he even has checkdowns available because of the help the o-line needs. Grant isn't going to get the ball enough and isn't dynamic enough to gash you, so really, you don't even have to gameplan for him. And yet, McCarthy will stick to his guns and call the same plays. It's disgusting.

If you're partial to hiring Cowher as HC, you'd better be patient.... He managed 1 SB in 15 years as the Steeler's HC...... Ah, hell, bring back Holmgren.... He's managed 1 SB victory in 17 years as a HC ....

For the record, Cuphound's novel was the best comment I've ever read here. No team is perfect. Everyone has good years and bad years, and the Pack had two bad DECADES. So just keep cheering. They WILL get better. Go Pack Go!

That said, it should be over for McCarthy and Thompson. What else can they do? Next year, we need to start over. We need a whole new front office, and we need to be like every other team in te league and sign free agents. Do you know any other team hat refuses to sign free agents? There are so many things to say, but they've already been said. I'm done. Go pack.

"I posted this before to win a division is not an easy task in the NFL but to have a .500 ball club that’s easy. What’s the Packers’ record again oh yes (4-4)
(For you cheese heads that’s .500)."

So you're happy just with winning the division? Good for you. Setting low goals is allways good! Unfortunately, I've been spoiled with SBs and Championships, so just winning the division or a playoff game won't cut it for me.

Damn the Packers, that won so many times! I should've been a viking! That way I would be happy with division titles!

Hey GBPBob--I'm not defending this disaster. I want McCarthy canned. I was just trying to help a guy who'd lost faith remember why he should stick with his team. I'm ready to trot McCarthy to the guillotine. I was ready LAST WEEK.

Lol at Turd from Minnesota. As far as I'm concerned it does you no good to win the division and fail in the playoffs. Last time I checked, they only give rings to SB winners, not Division winners...

Not related to the post, but some of you may be interested (if you didn't already know that is) that Tyrell Sutton had his professional debut with the Panthers on sunday, carrying 3 times for 15 yards.

It's sad when folks defend a disaster in the name of being a 'true fan'... you will be looking at ice bowl tapes for a long time if you don't get a new GM and Coach.

You don't stop being a Packer fan because you criticize a coach or GM (or player). 2007 we had a 13-3 team... what happen? who died or left? where is the leadership? Where are the free agent pickups, good drafts, etc.,? 6-10 season ok? looking at next week very possible 4-5?

Yeah, let's put in an ice bowl tape, and put a bag over our head and pretend the last season and a half didn't happen ...that's the ticket.
