Bryan Bulaga Officially Placed on I.R. Among Nine Roster Moves Packers Made on Tuesday

Four other Packers players were placed on the reserve PUP list, including offensive lineman Derek Sherrod.

Offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga was one of four players placed on injured reserve by the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday, officially ending his season.

In addition to Bulaga, running back DuJuan Harris, rookie wide receiver Kevin Dorsey and rookie linebacker Jarvis Reed were placed on injured reserve.

None of the four are eligible to return at any point during the regular season. In order to be the one player designated for return, that player needs to be on the team's 53-man roster to start the season.

The Packers made nine roster transactions in total on Tuesday as they got down to the 75-man roster limit mandated by the NFL.

Four other players were transferred from the active to the reserve Physically Unable to Perform list: offensive lineman Derek Sherrod, defensive lineman Jerel Worthy, safety Sean Richardson and offensive lineman J.C. Tretter.

Players on the PUP list are not eligible to practice for the six weeks of the regular season, although they will be able to attend meetings.

As part of new rules for the PUP list starting this season there is a 21-day window from Weeks 7 through 11 in which the player can practice without counting against the 53.

Last season, both Sherrod and tight end Andrew Quarless were originally placed on the PUP list where they remained after being shut down.

Kicker Zach Ramirez was the only player released by the Packers.

The designated for return label is still in play for the players still on the 75-man roster. Safety Morgan Burnett or cornerback Casey Hayward could be candidates depending upon the severity of their injuries.

Placing Dorsey on IR to protect him from being signed by another team?
Teeter, Sherrod and Worthy might be late season contributors

Worthy I doubt. But I believe Sherrod will suit up this year.

Suiting up would be a huge step in and of itself...that means he's active on gameday. I bet he sees snaps.

Sherrod had a horrible injury that may never heal right, missed a lot of contact, missed a lot of conditioning. I have my doubts if he ever plays again. I hope I am wrong and he is back to a semblance of what he was drafted as

Other guys have come back from this type of injury. He can too. He had enough athleticism that it's worth holding out a little to see what happens.

Looks like we're heading to SF with Missin' as our kicker. Dude could nail 50 in a row and I would still get the cold sweats when they trot his goofy looking ass out there.

"Cold sweats"

Ha. True. But that's probably true of any kicker at this point for me. I'm shell shocked.

Crosby's got a shot at hitting most FG, as long as they're not on the right hash.

Crosby finally got serious when he realized his $3 million was on the line. He'll turn back into a pumpkin as soon as the pressure's off. Kickers!#$@&*

At our weekly viewings we always have done shots for each touchdown. We added Crosby field goals to the shot list last year as well!

At least you didn't have to do as many extra shots as expected. (optimism)

I'm not surprised by the cuts. I felt that Dorsey or Johnson might end up on IR beings neither seemed to stay healthy.

I thought they would put the 4 players on PUP list. I am not surprised at all by those moves. I see no advantage to putting Tretter on IR when PUP was an option. At least now he could come back and get some practice reps if nothing else. Can still put him on IR later if he's not ready. Now it at least gives him the option of coming back.

Agreed. There was zero reason to IR him right now.

I see the Patriots just claimed Gilbert Pena. Glad to see he made it onto another roster. I don't know if the Packers were planning on bring him onto the practice squad, but for the time being that prevents that from happening.

DL is one position that we seem to be stacked at this year. If it's any correlation, Jolly is still on the roster.

I also saw a tweet about the designated to return label can only apply to someone on the 53 as of the first Tuesday after the first game.

That would be devastating to lose either of those guys to IR. Losing either for any length of time will be hard to overcome considering the difficult schedule.

How many teams can chop 9 players off of their roster and only have to actually release 1?

Only your physically decimated Green Bay Packers!

If I never see the word "Sherrod" again, it'll be too soon.
The sight of it makes my eyes bleed.

Cow, you're such a genius. I think the Packers should put you on the coaching staff. Oh wait, there's that attitude thing we need to talk about. Enjoy the season.

Bob MCGinn write packers need more 11 one 11 -full contact practices, couldnt agree more.Last week watched full pad practice and no contact. Then preseason game full contact and more injuries. They are not conditioned for full contact. You start early in camp and increase contact to condition players not do opposite, never ever seen the extent of preseason injuries in 70s,80,90s,,,this is the wrong road McCarthy is taking, dont know when they will finally wake up to see there errors.Another point.why does are offense start out so slow year after year, simple 1st team offense does not get enough reps against live competition
