Brandt On Kampman

Good blurb here from Andrew Brandt over at National Football Post on the Kampman situation.

Money quotes:

This is unlike Aaron and reason to sense that things are not all radiant between the Packers and one of their most indispensable players.

And:

Kampman is in his contract year once again and strangely quiet. He’s someone that team, that defense and that organization needs to be in the proper frame of mind. This bears watching.

It's one thing for a beat guy to posit that 'something is wrong'. That's just guessing. It's quite another for a former Packer executive, one with a history and relationship with Kampman, to intimate the same.

I've read that the Packers' extension priority is Jennings, that Driver is upset with his contract, and that Collins is upset about his contract. But nothing, until Brandt said it, whether Kampman is unhappy with his contract.

Maybe that is because it's not like Kampman to complain. But he appears to be upset. He doesn't have anything nice to say, so he's not saying anything.

What I hope the Packers aren't doing is publicly saying the 3-4 is going to be great for Kampman, while in contract negotiations saying that they want to see how he makes the transition to linebacker first.

doesnt anybody else think that maybe he just doesnt know how he feels about it yet? the guy has had one week of practice in shorts and yet people expect him to have a definitive opinion and come out and say it?
i say we give him a chance to get used to all the new coaches and the new scheme before we ask him to form an opinion on it.
