Blind Squirrel? Meet Nut.

Mike Vandermause, yes, Mike Vandermause completely sums it up:

McCarthy has repeatedly vowed to clean things up, but after a while that sounds like idle chatter. Maybe there isn’t enough firepower on the roster to make that happen.

The Vikings have left the Packers in the dust largely because they have added big-time playmakers like Jared Allen, Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin and Favre in recent years. The Packers, meanwhile, continue to spin their wheels.

It’s not a hopeless situation, and no one in the locker room is giving up.

“I don’t want to say we go back to the drawing board but we go back, we get better, we make some corrections, we go on a run,” said guard Daryn Colledge.

It sounds good in theory, but the Packers must make it happen on the field. If they don’t do that over the remaining nine regular-season games, the ardent Favre fans won’t be the only ones putting heat on Thompson and McCarthy.

It starts with TT, he had the chance to trade up to get Adrian Peterson, he stood still and let him slip to a rival. It’s been downhill ever since. McCarthy needs to clean up his act or get out of town. This looks as bad as the Bart Starr coaching years, great guy, good players, poor decisions on the field of coaching.

  2. CSS says:

Seriously, that’s some weak criticism as an example. So 6 other teams are idiots for passing on Peterson and 26 other teams are all collective idiots for not trading up as well?

Feel free to criticize Harrell and Hawk picks as not having enough or any impact. But seriously, referencing ‘not trading up for Peterson’? Retrospective revisionism arguements are beyond weak and, when used liberally, make people look really dim.

CSS, Peterson was projected to be what he is, Green Bay HAD enough clout to do it, and was seen as in the best possible situation to do it, they just stood still. Call it weak criticism, it’s just the example of how TT has done his drafting after that, stands still for the most part. Mathews is the first he’s traded up for, and look at the results, outstanding.

Yeah, I don’t buy the “Thompson should have done this in the draft” statements. He does a whole lot of scouting himself, and he seems to be on par with where the players are projected to go. The draft is hit or miss with players anyways. Thompson’s downfall is in FA. It is his lack of involvement in FA that has this team “spinning wheels” with such young players. By the time your team matures your veteran players are out the door. He needs to combat the youthfulness with FA pickups who know the game. We have been saying this the last couple of years now

“The Vikings have left the Packers in the dust largely because they have added big-time playmakers like Jared Allen, Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin and Favre in recent years. The Packers, meanwhile, continue to spin their wheels.”

It all goes back to that draft and free agent thing. The pack have got to be able to recognize talent and sign it, which is something McCarthy and TT have been unwilling to do.

Driving home i realized what this team is like-the Packers under Infante. Complex offense that takes time for routes to form. Shaky defense to say the least. A run offense that barely existed. Bad thing about Infante Packers-only had one good season also. Is Mccarthy a one year wonder? Starting to think so.

Can we officially call Mike Vandermause “Blind Squirrel” from now on? I second the motion…

The Packers did not lose this game because of the lack of free agent acquisitions.
They lost this game, because the offense did not show up until the second half. Plain and simple.
I put most of that on Rodgers as a player, but on MM as the coach.
MM’s teams consistently underperform. They always start out UGLY in huge games, and usually start out that way in general.
How many times did the QB and RBs trip over each other yesterday? How many games this season has a fumble occurred because the QB and RB trip over or run into each other? Just a couple weeks ago, Arodge was “play actioning” to a RB that was nowhere in sight.
    Do they practice these plays?
The sloppy play and dumbass penalties seem to be here to stay, as long as MM is here.
Is it just because they are the “youngest team in the league?” Dunno about that. Clifton’s a veteran, he sure makes his share of penalties.
