Because You Can Never Have Too Much Favre
By PackerAaron
Donald's Designated Driver of All Kinds of Time, in response to Chris Lempesis of Ol' Bag Of Donuts casting Favre as the Greatest Player In Packers History, is taking apart what he calls "The Favre Legend". He's two parts in and they are simply not to be missed. Great stuff DDD.

There is a persistent undertone of sour grapes to that article.

Babe Ruth went to the Braves, Hank Aaron played with the Mets at the end of his career, Joe Montana went to the Chiefs & Alan Page played with the Bears. It happens. BFD. Unretirement? Similarly BFD. He wasn't the first, and he won't be the last.

I suspect opinions about Favre will change after the NFL's most overrated GM is gone.

Where is Jerry Reese going?

That is REALLY good stuff from DDD. I'm in ATL and I was here when #4 was here. The stories about his off the field exploits still make their way around town every now and again. Still, I'm holding my tongue unless/until he signs with MN.

Mr. Optimistic,
There is an air of negativity in DDD's blog post because he is trying to disprove something. When you try to disprove something, you use negative language. That's why there's the "persistent undertone of sour grapes."
Also, there's a difference between most of those players and Brett Favre. Ruth didn't try to go back and play for the BoSox, and Aaron ended his career where it started, in Milwaukee, not with a division (or even league) rival of the Braves. These are all different situations than the one that Favre is in. None of these players sought to play for their division rivals. None of them held their team hostage every offseason for half a decade, and none of them discussed their wish to "stick it" to their old coach.

Don Hutson greatest player
Brett Favre most media covered player.
-
Hutson might be the greatest football player of all time, and I think Peter King himself came up with that.
-
To compare Favre to Hutson is like comparing Apples and Orange County Choppers. Selling more T-shirts does make one a better fruit.

Mr O. I have linked to all the contemporaneaous articles that you can read through if you think I am being too negative.
------
My whole point is that all of these aspects have been glossed over.
------
If you want to read another article or blog post about how awesome Favre is without any reference to his shortcomings more power to you. There is plenty of that stuff out there for you to enjoy.
