Awaiting Word On Aaron Rodgers

If the Packers add Graham Harrell to their roster today, it basically answers the question whether or not Aaron Rodgers will play on Sunday.

All the NFL-watching world wants to know is if Aaron Rodgers is going to play quarterback for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Normally the Packers don't speak to the media on Saturdays, and under usual circumstances the public would have to wait until shortly before kickoff to find out if any player in Rodgers' shoes would be playing.

However, these aren't normal circumstances. Because the Packers carry only two quarterbacks on their roster, they'll need to make a roster move in case Rodgers can't play.

Thus, if the Packers go ahead an add practice squad quarterback Graham Harrell to the 53-man roster today, it's a good bet that Rodgers won't be active on Sunday.

If Harrell is added, a player must either be cut or placed on injured reserve. It's possible the Packers wouldn't have to cut anyone if the place a player like Frank Zombo or Cullen Jenkins–both of whom are battling injuries–to IR.

Probably, but they could always add Harrell and still have Rodgers active too. Most teams carry 3 qb's, the Packers could do it for the next three games.

Possibly, but I don't think the Packers make a roster move if they know Rodgers can play.

The thing we are overlooking is that Rodgers post concussion play earlier this season was the worst stretch of his career.

Well, let's hope he can get it together.
Everything is week to week...game to game...in the league and life.
Dwelling on past success or failures is pointless since every man is really just a product of what he does in the now.

If Rodgers can't play (which is most likely) and they activate Harrell off the practice squad, guess on the corresponding move? I say either Cullen Jenkins, Anthony Smith or Frank Zombo to IR.

I would guess by 3pm. I think that is when they usually come if their is a roster move, which if Rodgers can't play there will be.

Just don't get how Willard Harrell helps us here. The guy hasn't thrown a pass since St. Louis in 82 and his best year passing was in '75 as a rookie where he completed 60% of his passes (3 of 5)for 61 yards. Of course we need running help, but he fumbled 20 times in 75-76 and I don't see him improving this much in the last 35 years. I think we can find a more suitable 3rd stringer. And how do you pronounce his name? willARD HarRELL?
