Aaron Rodgers Calls the Packers WRs The Deepest Group in His Nine Years

The current group might be without Greg Jennings and Donald Driver, but that didn't stop Rodgers from calling this year's group even deeper.

In an interview airing on Sirius XM's NFL Radio on Wednesday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had some incredibly kind words to say about the players to whom he'll be throwing the ball in 2013.

"I think this receiving corps is the deepest I've seen in nine years in a training camp," said Rodgers.

Considering the wide receivers group also included Greg Jennings and Donald Driver the past several seasons, that's some pretty heady praise from the Packers quarterback.

With what appears to be bad blood between Rodgers and Jennings, could it be that this is another dig at the now Vikings wideout?

Aren't most of the depth WRs injured? Is he basing this on what occurred during OTAs?

He has to mean that beyond the first three they are pretty much all the same.

I'm not really sure how that can be true. At one point we had Jennings, Jones, Nelson, Cobb and Driver. We still have Jones, Nelson and Cobb, but instead of Jennings and Driver we have Boykin and ... ? I think Boykin is on the rise, but better than that first group? Maybe he's considering that Jones, Nelson, and Cobb have all improved as well.

In other news, GJ needs to stop running his mouth over there. I always liked him, but my respect for him is slipping with every additional comment.

Yeah, I'd probably call BS too...but unlike some people I'm not losing sleep over the 4th and 5th WRs.

I think Rodgers is saying that beyond the first 4 or 5 this is the deepest group he's played with, something which is probably more noticeable considering the injuries to our wideouts. He could of course be saying the politically correct things during TC to boost the confidence of those on the fringes fighting to make the team.

If it is true though then it could mean a surprisingly explosive offense, I can't wait to see it in action with genuine RBs a solid group of TEs and maybe a deep WR group then who knows what A-Rod and MM can come up with to utilise our weapons.

Sounds cool. Too bad 12's gonna have like 1.1 seconds to get the ball off and the RB's are gonna need to make 2 or 3 guys miss just to get back to the LOS.

That line... Ugh.

It was such a great glass that I felt it deserved more milk.

But, alas, the person serving the milk only gave me half a glass.

Maybe sometime within the next 5 years the white haired gentleman serving milk will fill the beautiful glass all the way to the top.

Its worth reminding all that Cow predicted a 6-10 season for the Pack BEFORE Bulaga went down.

AFTER Bulaga went down, Cow basically threw in his chips (get it? cow chips? but I digress) and explained how this bad O line of the Packers is now even WORSE.

He then concluded by stating, "6-10".

So Cow does this mean that the loss of Bulaga will not cost the Packers any games?

6-10 before Bulaga injury, 6-10 after. What gives?

Guess that means your boy Bakhtiari will hold up that left side after all.

Well, of course, he couldn't possibly mean it, right? I suggest everybody stop looking for hidden meaning. I take it that he, as the guy who's actually on the field throwing the ball to people, is very positive about the depth of talent that he, as the actual quarterback of a professional football team, does in fact observe. He likes Tyrone Walker, has had some good things to say about Myles White. C'mon, let's stop stirring the Jennings pot. He's just another former player.

Craig Jennings is gonna be upset! He doesn't get enough credit. Brainwashed because the organization people say the Packers are top tier? That's mot brainwashing, Craig, that's historically factual.

And this is AFTER 15's coach told him to "shut up,about GB already", right?

(See what I did there? Referred to him as '15'.)
(Maybe '14' would have been better.)

Any word on Charles Johnson? Thought this kid was supposed to be a stretch the field type of guy, drawing comparisons to Mike Wallace but taller. I know he's been hurt...any word on that injury?

Looks like the dude has some serious injury that the Packers are not revealing. If he really can run a sub 4.40 and is 6ft+ tall then there is no way he lasted until Round# 7 in the draft, barring some serious injury. I am not expecting him to make any significant contribution this year. Hope they are able to stash him in the practice squad.

You nailed it Brain. I think this was a jab at Jennings. Pretty much saying the rookies we have now are more talented than that nagging mound of flesh Minnesota calls a receiver.

I do believe this is a jab toward Jennings. But I also think he meant it as in the WR's beyond 4-5 are deeper and better then in the past years.

Guys like Walker, Hines, White are better then previous years.

Obviously the top 4-5-6 aren't as strong as previous years, I think its just the guys behind them that are better...

I really don't think this was a shot at Jennings at all. When Aaron takes potshots, and he has had his fair share, he usually lets you know he's taking a shot, whether it's how he frames it or the tone of his voice.

Here he's just casually saying this is the deepest receiving corp he's seen in 9 years IN A TRAINING CAMP. In training camp. To me it's factually valid. We've had a lot of good wide receiver depth over the years in camps with guys like Borel, West, Gurley, and Boykin last year, but I can't remember a time in recent memory where we've had as many receivers in camp as we have right now.
