It’s that time of year. Football sites are abuzz with draft talk. Packer blogs and forums speculate about who the Packers will pick, not only in the first round, but throughout the draft. Will Thompson trade down, as has been his custom? Will he stand pat and take a corner, guard or quarterback, all of which are realistic possibilities, or will he shock us all and trade up for the first time in his history? Well, let me tell you that right now, today, I don’t care. I really don’t. I see it all but I’m blind to it, if that makes sense. All the pages and pages of speculation, all the mock drafts and all the talking heads going on and on about what the Packers will do, will mean absolutely, positively nothing on the morning of April 28th.
And let me tell you something else. On that morning, there will most likely be 8-12 new Packer players. 5 or 6 will make the team. And one or two may actually contribute to the 2008 version of the Packers. Exciting stuff.
