A Note About Abdul Hodge

I have read about a hundred blog posts/comments decrying the release of Abdul Hodge. I am really mystified at what these people don't understand.

  • Hodge only played the middle linebacker spot.
  • Desmond Bishop outplayed him in camp and preseason
  • He was fair on special teams, when he played there at all

Throw in the fact that Tracy White can play either outside LB position and is a monster on special teams, and it's a no-brainer. Unless of course people wanted to keep three middle linebackers?

Now, as for all the people who are flabbergasted at the fact that Jarrett Bush still has a roster spot, well, I am one hundred percent with you on that one. I am dumbfounded.

Thanks for the insight. The issue for me was keeping Hodge instead of Bush. I had hoped (key word "hoped") by keeping all those LBs we could trade one for a DT. Based on PCs and other reports it appears TT tried with no luck.

Every team in the league is looking for a DT - that's why no one will part with one. There's no way a team would part with even a mediocre DT for a limited LB that doesn't play 'teams', esp when they know he'll most likely end up getting cut.
