Packers just need to score early and make it so the 49ers cant just run the ball. I dont see them being able to win if forced to pass.

The last time the 49ers beat the Packers in a regular season game was November 4th, 1990 at Lambeau. Don Majkowski had a good day passing, 22 for 33, 274 yards with 2 tds, good for a QB rating of 112.4. Unfortunately some guy named Joe Montana was 25 for 40, 411 yards and 3 TDS, good for a 122 on the QB rating meter. The Packers were in it until Montana hit some other guy named Rice for a 64 yard 4th quarter TD to go up 24-13. Rice had 187 yards receiving. Sterling had both TDs for the Pack.

The last time the Niners beat the Packers at Candlestick in a regular season game was 1974.

The only loss to Niners, period, in the last 20 years and the only loss in Candlestick in 36 years is the Rice non-fumble/TO miracle '98 wildcard game. Incidentally, that '98 wildcard game is the only game Steve Young ever won against the Packers as a starter.

I remember that 1990 game. '89 was my first season watching the Packers (first game was the infamous Majik to Sharpe was he over the line touchdown). So back then, playing the great Joe Montana, it was so exciting being in the game that long. You know, the good 'ole days when we weren't spoiled by winning football, and every game was a challenge. I was very proud of them, that day. Very proud.

Funny how times change, isn't it? Then I was scared of the mighty 49ers, and we were the lowly Packers, just trying to get by. Now? Now we're the team to be feared, and the lowly 49ers are just trying to get by. The niners have potential, but so did we back then. Give 'em hell, Pack!

I don't really recall that 1990 game for some reason or other...probably has to do with dying brain cells..I was 19 at the time.

But I do remember the '89 game where we went TO San Fran and knocked them off. I'll never forget that game. Majik got beat up, but he managed to run in a QB draw for a TD. San Fran was 14-2 that year, I think, and won it all. Honestly, that 1989 team is my 2nd favorite Packers team/year ever except for '96. I think it will always be my favorite non-champion Packers team.

I too have fond memories of the Sterling Sharpe era.
He really was something special to behold.A legend that has long been forgotten (as a player) by everyone except the Packers' faithful.

I am reminded of how blessed the Packers have been with great receivers over the past 30 years or so....
Lofton, Sharpe, Freeman, Driver, Walker (for a lil' while) and now Jennings....
Never really had a gap without a solid Pro-Bowl number one guy.
