45-Man Gameday Roster Prediction Vs. Lions

Cullen Jenkins, Korey Hall and Pat Lee have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Below is the Packers' entire roster. Players in bold text are those I predict to be inactive on Sunday against the Detroit Lions:

  • QB: Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn
  • RB: Brandon Jackson, Dimitri Nance, James Starks
  • FB: Korey Hall, John Kuhn, Quinn Johnson
  • WR: Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, James Jones, Jordy Nelson, Brett Swain
  • TE: Donald Lee, Tom Crabtree, Andrew Quarless
  • OL: Chad Clifton, Daryn Colledge, Josh Sitton, Scott Wells, Bryan Bulaga, Jason Spitz, T.J. Lang, Nick McDonald, Marshall Newhouse
  • DL: Cullen Jenkins, B.J. Raji, Ryan Pickett, C.J. Wilson, Jarius Wynn, Howard Green
  • ILB: A.J. Hawk, Desmond Bishop, Matt Wilhelm, Robert Francois
  • OLB: Clay Matthews, Frank Zombo, Diyral Briggs, Eric Walden
  • CB: Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, Sam Shields, Pat Lee, Brandon Underwood, Josh Gordy
  • S: Nick Collins, Charlie Peprah, Jarrett Bush, Anthony Smith, Atari Bigby
  • ST: Mason Crosby, Brett Goode, Tim Masthay

Notes:

  • Cullen Jenkins, Korey Hall and Pat Lee have all been ruled out of Sunday's game and definitely won't be playing.
  • As has been the case all 12 games this season, offensive linemen Marshall Newhouse and Nick McDonald will almost certainly be inactive.
  • The toughest call came with safeties Atari Bigby and Anthony Smith who are both listed as questionable, meaning they have about a 50-50 chance of playing. I think the Packers play it safe and keep them inactive for one more week allowing them additional time to heal. They've gotten by without their services the previous two weeks and can do it again. If one of them happens to be active, they'll probably take the place of fellow defensive back Josh Gordy.
  • Having Korey Hall inactive should open the door for fellow offensive backfield member Dimitri Nance to be active. Nance was inactive last week.
  • Matt Wilhelm was a surprise inactive last week with Robert Francois taking his place. The thinking is that they'll do the same against the Lions.
  • Jarius Wynn is expected see his first action in nearly a month.

Brian,

I really hope your prediction holds true.

I would absolutely love to see 3 active halfbacks on Sunday for the first time all season.

Not purposely to change the subject ...... But are the Bears going to get another break against the Pats on Sunday? .....

Forecast for Chicago Sunday afternoon .....

"Very windy, with a north northwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to between 30 and 35 mph. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible."

I have that feeling too, Aaron. But, then again, my predictions regarding the performance NFC North teams are not to be trusted. A little too much emotional investment in the outcome, you might say.

A least the Pats are about as used to playing in deep winter conditions as any team.

Should make for fantastic entertaining game in HD though. Love snow games!

They'll win against the Jets.

They'll stll be out of the playoffs, with us winning the division, and the Saints and Giants winning the wildcard spots.

I've been so upset all season about how the bares have had a gigantic horseshoe up their asses...

Not any more.

If the Packers do not make the playoffs they will only have themselves to blame. They put themselves in the position they're in by losing games they could/should have won. The opportunity is there for them to make amends. If they don't - it's their own fault.

It's not "lucky" that the bares are playing a crummy weather game at home in December. They know where they play... they have built their team accordingly... emphasis on special teams and defense.

They also weren't "lucky" when jones fumbled the game away... urlacher made a play - jones didn't.

If you've watched the bares over the years, you know this is their M.O. = They keep things in front of them, allow yards in the middle of the field, force the opponent to make 10+ play drives to score (waiting for YOU to make the first mistake), get stingy near the goal line, force turnovers, and use special teams to set their average offense up with good field position.

This is not luck. This is how the bares do it.

No one else is going to take care of the Packers' business on this... THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THIS BUSINESS THEMSELVES!!!!!!!

Why are you replying to me?

When did I mention luck? They have been lucky, it's undeniable (Calvin Johnson TD first week, no Matthew Stafford, no Asante Samuel and Ellis Hobbs. Jones fumbling wasn't luck, but the ball stoping to go out of bounds was).

But they will not make the playoffs. We will. We will beat them at Lambeau, and we will take the division.

Mark my words.

Do we all forget so soon how the Patriots demolished the Titans last year, 59-0?

Sure, the weather's gonna be worse tomorrow, but I'd say the Pats have seen as much (if not more) cold, snowy weather as the Bears have.

I would disagree there, I think GB mgmt has made a ton of great moves the past year but keeping around 3 FB constantly is a little silly, wasting $ and a spot in the draft like Q Johnson
