Great to hear that about Wyatt. With Slaton also supposedly improved then that news is really encouraging.

So pleased to hear that Tom is getting a true chance at C!

I did see Tom and Nijman swapped on a number of downs during 11 on 11 scrimmage. What that means or how either of them did I can't tell you.

We swapped at least two people around, there's now a #62, Emery, he also got some reps at C.

I did see some interesting things out of our QB stable: Mr Magoo kept firing at QR Chest. Favoritism? Was he really the open man each time? Was that a designed drill? Not only did he catch well but 17 had a pass batted away and Chrest caught that one too. Etling targeted Melton a lot, who looked very good. Etling missed his target twice, including 1 that was wildly out of bounds. I saw Clifford off his target once. JL10 was sacked twice (once by Nixon) and missed his target 8x that I saw, including one that was batted away. #28 Dillon caught 1 from him. He also dropped one. Musgrave caught several from him, including some plays where he looked like a relief valve. #33 Jones did drop one in a drill.

Reed also took a handoff and gained 15 yards. Heath caught 4. Watts caught 1 from Etling.

No blocked kicks! Got to see #17 Carlson kick a bunch of FGs: from the 30, 35, 37, 39, (that might have missed? next one was from the) 38, 42, 41, and 42 was definitely a miss but not by much. These mostly cleared the upright by a mile.

#41 got to punt: shanked two including his first, 50 yards, 70!, 55, 50 off catching a high snap, 50, 55 with impressive hang time, 60, 50, and 48.

#7 fell. I'm not sure if that was in a drill or a full scrimmage.

Goodson and Bakh both got hurt, Bakh it looked like his elbow. (I didn't see Goodson go down, the guy next to me said that. Maybe that was DeGuara?) Definitely not 69's knee. Hopefully they're both ok.

Nichols had two good runs.

#77 Telfort got used a LOT. #65 Filiaga got released; that hurts as he was one of the few heavier than Bakh other than Mt Caleb. I'm not saying he was good enough to keep, just it hurts that he wasn't.

CBs drilled catching batted passes, that was interesting to see.

After everybody else was done, another crew of 6 caught from the machine: #11 83, 18, 25 (Nixon, who was the only one to drop one but these were coming in rapid succession) 33 & 82.

#28 did come over to thank the fans for coming out after everybody was done. I found out that they are practicing tomorrow, it's just closed to the public.

Thanks a ton, my brother!

Awesome stuff. As much as one may try, no one sees all of it. Your contributions here are huge. Some stuff reporters may miss and poof into the ether. Well done!

Love hearing about Chrest too! I have a feeling he will stick too. If so, WR as a unit could be mistaken for lightening with all the golden flashes of light downfield. Watson. Reed. Melton. Chrest. 4 lightening bolts. Electric. All of them solid receivers too. Not your fast burner track guys of yesteryear.

Did you happen to catch Safety action? Moore? Johnson Jr? They’re my favorites to steal away starting positions.

Good summary SST! I was there and saw mostly the same things you reported.
Mostly, my impression was that everyone was inconsistent—good plays on moment, and a mistake a few minutes later. I think that’s okay, given the youth and how early it is.
Innis Gaines dropped two or three balls. Josh Myers got pushed around.
Valentine got an interception, and just looks like the third best DB on the team to me.
All the QBs had highlights at some point. FB Pearson (or maybe Chrest?) made a great one-handed catch.
The punters both were booming super high punts.
Nichols two good runs looked better than most of his college highlights.
I thought the same thing about Musgrave: he looks like he may get a lot of check-down action.

Great stuff to hear, PEO! Thanks for sharing this! I’m really glad you got to go too!

I saw a video of Chrest with the one handed catch on Twitter. Nice hearing about Lew Nichols III too! I love that guy.
