Hey....while we're killin time. I got a question for discussion here;
If the strength of the draft is clearly on CB, WR, QB and OL. What is the best strategy for a team like GB? Do you jump in the meat of those strengths, and take your picks as soon as you can in the CB, WR or OL? Or, do you say to yourself, let others get those top picks, and go for another position such as ILB or S, and come back to draft the CB, WR or OL later, knowing that it is deep, and you still get high quality later?

Yes.
More seriously, it depends on what the team needs. Do you need a plug and play starter?

I think you weigh best player available at your pick v. need. I don't think you bypass clearly superior players to take a lesser player at a position based on need.

Like so many New Jersey kids at Wall High, he dreamt of growing up and winning the Patrick Mannelly Award, then playing in the NFL.

The Packers will NOT pick at #25. I don't know if they'll go up or down, but they will make a trade.

FYI:
Andre Dillard's contract is for the minimum of $1.125M with no guaranteed money. That sounds like he is fighting for a roster spot as a backup. As previously thought, it probably means his signing doesn't move the needle when the Packers are considering which players to select.

So, finally a player goes who might have fallen to 25 when Latu, Byron Murphy went 15 and 16th and Mims at 18.

Steelers had been pretty strongly connected to Barton. I wonder if the Packers will be tempted by him...

Philly, Jacksonville and Dallas than GB at 25. Barring a trade.

Barton, Guyton, McKinstry, Dejean all still on the board...as players linked to the Packers.

So do the Packers go Dejean?
Thegreatreynoldo

Yeah, they might as well have traded back 5 or 6 picks. Jordan Morgan. He isn't a bad prospect.

I liked Andy Herman's notion of trading back to 32 or so and picking Morgan at that spot. So, I don't think Jordan Morgan is chopped liver or anything. He should work at guard, and getting Ryan off the field was my #1 priority.
I don't hate it. Morgan has a chance to make it as a plus OT, but he might end up at OG. [I have to mention that I don't appreciate whoever that was on the watch party telling me in what seemed to be an aggressive tone to get over it.]

Some surprise, admittedly some dismay.
He's what the Packers like in their OL.

I loved Q. Mitchell, a great human being, who will be an All Pro, but I got my projected one pick. Do (i) get a lollipop?

And Now you get to face the music
if he doesn't turn out to be Bahk.
And we'll get to draft another OL.
When Gute didn't trade up for Mitchell.
He helped everyone.
His visit to Alabama's a waste.
No one had to change their boards.
The conscious boards were correct.
The Qbs taken changed how they drafted.
And the Lions got the prize at Cb they needed.

April 26, 2024 at 08:04 am
He was looking at Latham, the kid from Oak Creek and the CBs. One is still standing and I like McKinstry over Arnold. Half of these QBs will bust. I liked Nix's moxy. MIms going high to the Bengals was larceny. The NFL edge guys will stunt him inside/out with quick DTs. Carolina still clueless with the hedge fund guy playing with his new toy.

The True point to everything jb.
Is - Gute is not for the fans.
And that in turn will hurt the packers
franchise in the long run.
He must now select a DT to get rid of Clark.

Wasted 1 st round pick a player with an injury history probably would have gotten him in a later round.

How consistent can this get? I didn't want Rashan Gary or Luke Musgrave, and really wanted Creed Humphrey, so of course they pick one of the guys I was most blase about.
Welcome Jordan, I hope you are able to outshine DeJean and Barton...

April 25, 2024 at 10:17 pm
Well, he was on the short list. OG/OT that was in the range. Guyton and King Sua as well, but Morgan most experience. It had to be OL or DB. Dissapointed not DeJean, but we'll see. It's Gute after all.

Best feet and slide,23-25 reps on the bench. 5.2, 40 on the move. All Pac-12. Now, go bag Cooper Beebe@ #41, or trade up for him...

Gute sucks. He got lucky the last few yrs. Should of used a 3rd round that never pan out and get Mitchell or Arnold. But no take a injury prone OT. F off Gute

Is it Luck or good Coaching.??
If they fail it's on the coaches.
If they prosper it's on the GM.
After Gute fires MLF.
He'll pick his own.
But the root of all evil is money.
(In the hands of a Gm who can't keep his word.)

Well, who knows. Maybe Dallas takes Morgan at 29 and they take Morgan, leaving us perhaps with
Guyton at 32 or somebody else. I wouldn't have hated Guyton, I suppose, but he seemed to need more development.
So far, okay.
